This is my favorite episode in the show, it's also one of my favorite Christmas episodes of all time as well. It was interesting to see an alternate version of "Family Matters" where we see Steve as one of the Winslow's, I'll admit it was surreal seeing Steve acting like just a regular person but interesting.
However, the real kicker was seeing Laura as an Urkel, now that was surreal. Just in the outfit, glasses, and certain tone; really liked Kelle's performance you really bought her as an Urkel. Things are indeed reversed as it's now her pining for Steve, the whole shebang is funny but then it becomes emotional as we see it all leads to the same predicament that Laura put Steve though.
This episode wasn't just one for Laura to understand Steve's mindset, but it was also a bit of a character study on Steve and how uneasy it is being him. He's a person that has deep feelings and emotions, but the problem is sometimes they don't always come out the right way or just doesn't know how. Let alone the fact he's a person that beats to a different drummer which at times makes him a person misunderstood.
You really can learn a lot about a person from another viewpoint.
