The poem "Marc groet 's morgens de dingen" by Flemish poet Paul van Ostayen (1896-1928) is partly recited by Dimitri, mistakenly calling it a Guido Gezelle (1830-1899) poem. Doortje thinks it's a Hugo Claus (1929-2008) before Dimitri mentions Gezelle. Thus, remarkably both of them are completely wrong.
Koen De Bouw guest stars as Wouter Smeets, Sabine's boyfriend. He who would go on to win an Ensor for Best Actor (in Flanders, the Ensors are equivalent to the Academy Awards in the USA) in 2014 and would be nominated for two more. De Bouw became one of the most popular Belgian actors outside of the country. Appearing in just one scene, his minor role as Wouter is nevertheless considered his first role of significance, having made his debut in 1986.
This is one of only two titles to see Dimitri wear a full orange boilersuit. The other title is De ooievaar (1991). He wears his alternative dark blue cap with it as well, not his signature red cap.
The name "Sabine" has the French spelling. In Belgium or in the Netherlands, it is often spelled as "Sabien" whereby it is Dutchified. Only the Dutch subtitles confirm that it is spelled as "Sabine" here. Her then unseen father Jerôme's surname is the French name "Dubois". However, the surname is not mentioned as of here. Her father was played by Congo born actor Michel de Warzee between the eleventh season and the show's end.
