Dreyfuss runs away just before Xmas, which prevents the Westons from leaving for their ski trip; Laverne forbids Harry from exchanging Xmas presents with her.
This is a decent Xmas episode of this GOLDEN GIRLS spinoff that never quite reached the height of its' parent show. It has just the right balance between humor and sentiment. The girls slowly coax Harry into having Xmas at home for the first time since Libby died. It takes his own speech to Dreyfuss to make Harry realize he has been avoiding it for emotional reasons. As the EMPTY NEST theme song states: life goes on.
The humor comes from Laverne - who's conversation with the travel agency has her reminding them of the "Thanksgiving Incident of '86" which resulted in a travel agent named Wendy who's still going 'round on a baggage carousel - and Charley - who's somehow made his way onto the Westons' Xmas card, thanks to some elaborate pre-Photoshop photo manipulation.
The tag scene finds Charlie entering the Westons (whom he thinks are away on vacation) with two babes, and finding them home, breaking into a chorus of "We Wish You a Merry Xmas". 7/10.
