Tax The Wealthy!
NickBOKC11 May 2021
This episode was a missed opportunity to state the obvious: Corrupt politicians cut taxes for the wealthy while cutting publicly funded healthcare services. I was hoping to see the local news report on the safety concerns of the employees and demand that politicians raise taxes on the wealthy to fully fund the hospital. The wealthy hoard more than enough money to cover the costs of healthcare.

Workplace Safety Vs Patient Care
adieti6 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
"Ten bucks an hour is not going to keep any half decent guys here," the security boss responds to Dr. Lewis after she complains they aren't there when she needs them.

Carter is furious that a gun-wielding junkie makes his way into the E. R. and threatens Chen. He stages a walkout, putting him against Weaver in a battle of the budget.

The episode is good but not excellent, but brings up a real issue of workplace safety vs patient care. Carter's point being ultimately, is it worth risking your own life everyday to save others? He and many other E. R. staff know that the job is hard enough without the threat of injury or death.

I, for one, would not accept working in an unsafe environment, especially when the funds exist. Weaver's red tape and board meetings feel like a flimsy excuses and Carter is an unlikely choice to represent the proletariat, but overall I liked the way the episode resolved the issue.

Thinking on it now, forcing Carter to choose how to deal with the budget limitations is deliciously sardonic knowing he's the richest of all the hospital staff. Theoretically, if his family paid more taxes, then the county hospital would have more funds for security.

Insurrection (#9.3)

Warning: Spoilers
This episode gets a bit dangerous when the guy who is waiting for pain medication get angry and holds Chen hostage until he gets some. So Carter makes a walk out until Weaver makes the ER more secure.

I kind of am on the side of Weaver here. She is the one who understands budget and how to deal with it. Of course I understand Carter as well since the guy got stabbed before. But I wonder how it may have a negative effect on the hospital in the future.

And Pratt's brother got caught by security. I probably was not looking too carefully as I don't get why it happened. I actually didn't realize it was the brother until he got home. Looking forward to more of that and Pratt.

And at the end Chen had some really good time, not a huge fan of this character but let her enjoy life more maybe she will get better.

Johnny be Good

Warning: Spoilers
Carter has enough of Kerry's administrative BS and leads a walk out after a gun wielding drug seeker holds Chen hostage for 30 seconds. In a disappointing conclusion to the event, he doesn't pull the trigger, gets his shot from Abby, who he also threatens and leaves. Weaver passes the buck so she can wipe her conscious of culpability and sticks Carter with a tough decision.

I like the scenes between Dr marble mouth and Dr can't act for crap; makes it easy to fast forward through the scene so I don't miss anything important concerning any characters that matter.

Romano steals the scene again during his brief screen time, he's become a favorite.

Weak-minded episodes

Warning: Spoilers
I'm so sick of Carter's childish behavior, if he's so rich why doesn't he buy the metal detectors himself?

Pratt is a predator who takes advantage of situations, while poor Kerry has to deal with all the problems alone because no one understands the real problem.
