- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: Now would you stop jumping all over me?
- Clay Fallmont: Yeah, well, if I am, it's because of the way you've been acting lately. Like you're on another planet or something. Now, what...? What is going on with you?
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: Nothing. Nothing at all.
- Clay Fallmont: Hey.
- [takes hold of her]
- Clay Fallmont: We've gotta stop doing this to each other, sweetheart. We have got everything to look forward to. Us together, our baby.
- [she remains evasive]
- Clay Fallmont: You're not beginning to regret being pregnant, are you?
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: No, of course not. I wish you'd stop questioning me. I don't like it. I really don't like it.
- [she turns her back on him, and starts leaving]
- Clay Fallmont: I think we do need a few days away from each other. Maybe that way we can sort out what's wrong.
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: [looking back over her shoulder] Maybe that would be good for us.
- [leaves, closing door, it slams shut]
- Claire Prentice: That was just a friendly kiss.
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: Oh, I didn't say anything, did I?
- Claire Prentice: No, but I sensed something about the way you looked at me. And you've no reason to be jealous.
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: You don't know what you're talking about.
- Claire Prentice: [smirks] He's a terrific guy. And I think you might still have some personal feelings towards him.
- [disdainful look, turns and leaves, leaving Sammy Jo looking after her wryly]
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: Would it be such a terrible thing if I didn't tell Clay?
- Krystle Carrington: [little sigh] What? That you thought you were pregnant, but you found out that you aren't? Sammy Jo, he'll understand.
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: But what if he doesn't? Maybe I can keep trying to conceive, and he'll never find out.
- Krystle Carrington: [wisely] You can't base your relationship on lies.
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: But I love him. And I don't want him to think that I trapped him into marrying me.
- Krystle Carrington: Sammy Jo, he will understand.
- [kisses her, leaves, leaving Sammy Jo standing there still doubtful]
- Krystle Carrington: What very special little girl is going to have her birthday when her daddy gets back?
- Krystina Carrington: Me!
- Krystle Carrington: That's right!
- [laughs]
- Krystle Carrington: And how old are you gonna be?
- Krystina Carrington: Three!
- [laughs]
- Krystle Carrington: That's very good!
- [laughs]
- Krystle Carrington: And what are you gonna have for your birthday?
- Krystina Carrington: A party, Mommy!
- Krystle Carrington: Yes, that's right!
- Jeanette: She scored a 100, Mrs.Carrington.
- Krystle Carrington: [fondly] I'm not surprised.
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: [coming towards him] Steven! I was expecting Clay. Is something wrong with Danny?
- Steven Carrington: No, no, no, he's fine. Listen, Sammy Jo, I've been doing a lot of thinking. I'm happy having Danny with me at the apartment, but he needs more family.
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: Oh, are you thinking about moving back to the mansion?
- Steven Carrington: No, I was thinking about his immediate family. His mother, you.
- [she blinks]
- Steven Carrington: With you having a baby and knowing how much he loves it out here, I'd like you to see more of him.
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: [happily] You really mean that, don't you?
- Steven Carrington: Yeah.
- [laughs]
- Steven Carrington: Surprised, huh?
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: Uh, except about the baby...
- Steven Carrington: What?
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: Well, it isn't due right away, so we're not exactly a family yet.
- Steven Carrington: Well, you will be soon.
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: [nods, smiles graciously] You know I've wanted Danny here.
- Steven Carrington: All right... then it's settled.
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: Thank you, Steven.
- [he leaves, and she ponders her predicament]
- Dex Dexter: [as they settle in eating the lunch she had packed for Clay] I'm sorry you had to drive all the way up here and miss him.
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: I should have phoned first.
- Dex Dexter: [taking a bite of roast beef sandwich] He'll be disappointed.
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: I hope so. I mean, I know there are some men who don't like their wives interfering in their work.
- Dex Dexter: No, I don't think he'll mind at all.
- [gets up, goes to the fridge]
- Dex Dexter: He is a very happy man, Sammy Jo.
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: You think so?
- Dex Dexter: I know so.
- [taking bottle of beer from the fridge]
- Dex Dexter: Sammy Jo, Clay's one of those rich kids who didn't take kindly to growing up with money. He needed to prove himself. In fact, he wanted to prove himself so much that he almost got himself killed in South America. Did he tell you that?
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: [surprised] No.
- Dex Dexter: [takes swig of beer] You know something? You're the best thing that's ever happened to him. You and the baby.
- [she looks down]
- Dex Dexter: Now, that has changed his life. I mean, I've never seen a man so happy to be having a child.
- [she still looks down]
- Dex Dexter: Hey, you okay?
- [touches her arm]
- Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: [smiles longingly] Dex... I just love him so much...
- Dana Waring Carrington: [barefoot and in bath robe, opens door, sighs] I just got back from the office and I was about to take a shower, Adam.
- Adam Carrington: I just got back from Australia, I had to come straight here.
- Dana Waring Carrington: Australia? I didn't know you were gone.
- Adam Carrington: [laughs] You missed me that much?
- Dana Waring Carrington: [sighs] Let's just say that with your father away, there's been a lot to occupy me at the office, and right now...
- Adam Carrington: Dana, I thought about you every bit of the time that I was away. And I kept hoping that you were missing me as much as I was missing you. And that's the end of the speech it took me from Sydney to Denver to prepare.
- [laughs]
- Dana Waring Carrington: You're actually saying that after the way we fought the last time we were together?
- Adam Carrington: Lovers' quarrel.
- Dana Waring Carrington: No, let's mark it down as a lot more than that, Adam.
