Frank Locke (Darryl Hickman) is a young beat cop who is in a hurry to be made detective.
He makes an arrest of a notorious criminal but he took a risk going in without back up.
This makes the detectives wary of him, he takes too many risks that could leave him or others at jeopardy.
However Lt Otto Lindstrom is sympathetic towards Locke. He realises that Locke is green but over time he will gain experience.
With a spate of liquor store robberies. The detectives are on regular stakeouts.
Lindstrom takes Locke to a stakeout in a liquor store which they believe is primed to be robbed. Jack Rewey (Jack Weston) is the nervous liquor store night manager.
However Locke once again proves he is too keen to please and reckless. Lindstrom is involved in a needless shootout with the baddies.
A small scale character study that leads to Captain Matt Holbrook giving Locke a life lesson. There might still be a good detective in there one day.
