Rusty's finest moment.
mark.waltz9 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's the attack of the crack monster when Alison opens the door to find Rusty bending over so his moon hits her eye like a big pizza pie. Michael Goldfinger is a sweet presence as Rusty, asking Julia out for dinner to celebrate his 40th birthday and he acts like a kid given his favorite candy. After a performance of "La Boheme", they head to dinner where he asks her put again. Of course, Julia becomes the butt of jokes from her co-workers in a humorous way, resulting in a very funny episode happily free from political agenda subplots. The episode is also benefited by the third appearance in a row of Alice Ghostley as Bernice who shows up late in the show to spend time with Anthony. It's double dating time for Alison and Carlene with a bunch of post teenage boys while Mary Jo ends up going out with Rusty's friend, making Julia grateful that Rusty is her date at the drive-in. Alison has gone out of her way to mentor Carlene by getting her a college scholarship, a throwback to when Suzanne decide to mentor Anthony. The combination of sophisticated humor and farce makes this one of the best of the later episodes.
