Oh, Joey...

Warning: Spoilers
In binge watching Dawson's Creek, I had forgotten a few things since first watching it when it was on originally. Joey can't seem to let herself be happy. As Dawson said in an earlier episode this season, Joey is the same scared little girl back in Capeside and doesn't know what she wants. Earlier this season we see Joey and Pacey reconnecting. They get stuck in the giant K-Mart sharing a few kisses and both reveal they miss the other, she gives him a sweet if boozy kiss after a party at his place, she acts like a jealous girlfriend while filling in as his secretary, they end up passionately making out on his couch. Now the two are chaperoning Harley's school dance. (You can just fast forward through any Harley scenes.) Things appear to be going well, Pacey is sweet and attentive. So of course, at the end of the night Joey tells him that she just can't. Pacey tells her that she's just scared. Joey unconvincingly protests and then drops the bomb that Eddie is back. Of course, Joey wants Eddie. He's moody, emotionally unavailable and was living on the other side of the country. Sigh. I doubt any viewer was rooting for Eddie and Joey to reconcile. Pacey, ever the romantic, comes back and dances one last dance with Joey.

The show was clearly begging to end...

Warning: Spoilers
This second half of season 6 is dragged down by that Joey/Pacey angst. Which should've been left alone, after their hit and miss in season 4. When it reaches that dead end, anyone who's been watching the series carefully, could've predicted. The way writers try to force the issue with their mini clone, Harley and Patrick, is too desperate to look inventive. Dawson is back to square one, making his own movie. Only he's more experienced and knows how the business works. Normally... Why is Gail so snappy? It's not like being an anchor was the safest bet for her either... It's a real shame the season made the same mistake Scream 3 (another one of Kevin Williamson's creation, someone else took over) did, with its overdone and inappropriate score setting of Hollywood's toxicity and « bad manners » ... Jen and Grams live their own little drama on their own. Which brought great acting from both actresses. And the rest of the cast, was simply dropped from the script. Which goes to show even directors realized how useless they were to the story. Too bad they didn't have this epiphany, about other aspects of it, though... One silver lightning. Joey decides to finally take risks, and follow new paths, by choosing to pursue this new relationship with Eddie.
