After The Wedding (1982), this is the second episode to feature both a wedding at Southfork and Cliff getting pushed into a pool.
This is Pam's second marriage in the space of ten episodes. In Blast from the Past (1986), she married Mark Graison. However, the following episode, the tenth season premiere Return to Camelot: Part 1 (1986) revealed that Bobby's death in Swan Song (1985) and all of the events of the ninth season, including Pam and Mark's wedding, were nothing more than Pam's dream.
The title was based on the musical "Bells Are Ringing" with a book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green and music by Jule Styne and starred Billy Holliday. Three of the show's tunes - "Long Before I Knew You," "Just in Time," and "The Party's Over" - became popular standards.
