Katie
Graphics Artist Katie O'Hara (Sally Struthers, appearing a few weeks before the first episode of "All in the Family" aired) nervously arrives at Tom's magazine to showcase her work to Norman, who is gone. Overlooking Katie's klutziness, Tom appreciates her talented style and decides to give her an assignment. Eddie pops in and the two quickly hit it off. Eddie admires how she has some kid-like qualities and thinks like him. Tom notices Katie's klutziness is gone when she's around Eddie, who she feels at ease around. She admits to feeling inferior to Tom and his status. Eddie confides to his dad that he wishes Katie was more attractive, as she doesn't seem pretty enough for the type his dad usually dates. Tom explains that physical beauty is nice, but is not the most important thing when choosing a partner. Eddie resonates the qualities he likes with the qualities she possesses and tells his dad that he truly loves her. Eddie wants to see her successful, and Tom gets approval from the New York office to offer her a job. Katie and Tom celebrate over dinner at their apartment and a romance slowly begins to simmer. With everything going her way, she begins questioning herself with Eddie learning a lesson on love.
