It's a fun start.

Mrs Peacock's new Fiancé Le Cont Henri de Beauchamp causes a lot of upset at Arlington Grange, and at the annual fun run, someone takes advantage of the noise and activity to bump him off.

I loved this show as a youngster, plenty of fun and intriguing, it's an entertaining first episode. I wonder if the show's arrival in 1990 had anything to do with Britain's love of whodunnits, Joan Hickson's Miss Marple was going strong, David Suchet's Poirot came the year before, people just loved a murder mystery.

I could have bumped him off myself for that accent alone, wonderfully over the top. The interplay between the main players at the questioning stage was great fun, Whitfield was a joy.

I'd forgotten that James Bellini presented this first series, he did a good job, but I definitely preferred Chris Tarrant.

Special guest are Nanette Newman and Edward Hardwicke, best known as Doctor Watson to Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes.

I wish they'd get this show back on the box.

Good start, 7/10.
