This is a biggie. Everyone on the team is in on this case, a brutal multiple- persons killer who has done this before, in New York and in Florida. (As explained on the title page here: this is part 2 of the CSI: Miami/CSI: New York crossover. Part I is "CSI: Miami: Felony Flight (#4.7).
Part two of this case brings Horatio Caine up from Miami to aid the N.Y. squad. The killer, named "Henry Darius," took a young adult female hostage in Miami up to New York, brought her up to her parents penthouse and killed her and four others. The others weren't supposed to be there. They were all prep schoolers (who look 25 years old) getting high at the moment. Wrong place; wrong time.
Mac, Stella, Horatio and Flack are all on the street while Danny, Sheldon and Lyndsay all are assigned lab work on this case. The sick killer left a lot of the victims' blood on walls, mirrors and everywhere. He also didn't see another person in the penthouse, the sister of the hostage who fled. She turns out to be a very key person in this manhunt for the killer. James Badge Dale, by the way, does a nice job of playing Darius, a low-key character but obviously one with big issues, as he admits in the episode.
A very intense, interesting show with some big twists at the end. Nice to see David Caruso and Gary Sinise working together although "Horatio" spent more time with "Stella" than anyone else, and seemed to enjoy it.
