The NRA poster in Ponch's motor home is not from the National Rifle Association but rather from the 1933 National Recovery Administration, an agency put in place by President Franklin Roosevelt that lasted for two years until it was ruled unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court.
Joe Nicassio, who played the baby's father, was up for the role of Ponch and lost out to Erik Estrada. The Poncherello character was originally supposed to be Italian, Poncherelli, but was changed to Hispanic after Estrada was cast in the role.
While trying to impress the females at the station by recounting an arrest, Ponch says "I pulled my gun..." The character never pulled his gun during the entire series. The only time it was shown out of the holster was in the final season during Hot Date (1983) when it was taken by a criminal.
During briefing, Getraer calls out several officer's names, to include Sylvia. 'Mike Sylvia' was the technical advisor for a portion of Season 1.
