Sex & Nudity

  • Giles and Olivia are seen in bed together before she gets out and covers herself with a sheet, implying they had sex
  • Xander's girlfriend, Anya, makes an obvious gesture for sex to him and they leave to another room, implying that's what they do
  • Because this is a silence episode, there is a scene where Giles asks "How do we kill them?" in writing., to which Buffy responds with the gesture of what appers to be masturbating. Everyone looks at her strange to which she pulls out her Vampire stake and repeats the gesture, to which everyone now understands what she meant.

Violence & Gore

  • It's mentioned that The Gentlemen cut out the hearts of their victims while they're still alive. We don't ever see the process nor any explicit aftermath, but nothing is left up to the imagination either as one takes a scalpel to a victim, jars are seen with the hearts in them, and one is briefly seen holding a recently collected heart

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The Gentlemen are very scary looking, with their grey, almost skeletal bodies, mad grins, and uncanny movements and mannerisms.
  • This episode is considered the scariest Buffy episode ever. It features many scary scenes.
