Two changes were made to the design of the game for this second series. One was that, instead of correct answers lighting up electronically, physical "correct answer indicators" would lie flat on the desk of the contestants and celebrities, and be manually flipped over when a correct match was achieved.
The other change was that instead of pressing a button to light up that they had written their answers and were ready, the panellists instead had to hold up a small sign saying "ready" to notify Terry Wogan. While the idea of having "flip over" correct answer signs was retained, the use of the ready signs was dropped after this second series.

This episode introduces the hand-held "ready" signs used by the panellists when they've completed their answers. Terry acknowledges this by saying "so much nicer than the lights, I always think, these little ready signs."
With the death of Shirley Anne Field in December 2023, this became the fourth episode of Blankety Blank where none of the panellists were still alive, following Episode #5.8 (1982), Episode #6.3 (1983) and Episode #1.12 (1979).
