What does Wojo really think of his colleagues?
kevinolzak2 July 2014
"The Inventor" casts Arny Freeman (fifth of six) in the title role, the inventor of a new, eternal-lasting battery that his employers keep locked away in a safe, which he must break into to retrieve his designs. Ben Piazza (first of three) plays the company attorney, hoping to keep that discovery from being made public, thereby dropping all charges and offering the inventor a raise. Harris believes the guy would make a good tax write-off, but he boasts that he'll take his money and make Harris a millionaire (Harris: "I have GOT to stop making money!"). Wojo finds himself unable to recall specific details of a jewelry store robbery the night before, prompting Dietrich to offer up hypnosis as a possible solution (Wojo: "or make a guy act like a chicken!"). Psychologist Matthew Kramer (Dan Frazer) does the honors and puts Wojo under (Dietrich: "wake me when he gets to the chicken part!"). Under hypnosis, Wojo shares his most intimate thoughts about his fellow detectives: how Harris is always on the phone talking about that 'dumb book' of his, and that he sometimes "thinks he's the only guy in the world who can put two words together!" (Harris: "got two words I could put together right now!"); how Barney still tends to 'talk down' to him after five years, two since making sergeant ("he keeps treating me like I'm just out of the academy...not like Dietrich, Dietrich doesn't patronize you, he talks to you like you can understand what he's talking about...a lot of time I don't, but that's just cause Dietrich's a smart person...I think Dietrich's got more brains than the rest of us put together!" Dietrich: "I gotta sit here and take this garbage?"). Before Kramer brings him out of it, Harris has a suggestion: "I wanna hear him cluck!"
