Dennis The Stupid
ygwerin15 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Dennis life is in turmoil and he is suffering shellshock after spouse Vera, had unloaded her bombshell on him. Den still has to decide exactly where his heart resides, does he start a new life in Germany with Dagmar.

Dennis is also sick as a parot for being expected, to solve everyone else's problems. While no-one seems to give a monkeys for his concerns.

In particular Oz and Neville seem totally self centered, whining on about their petty quibbles.

Of all the lads Wayne has decided to stay behind and take out a German work permit, he is smitten by a new fraulein Christa. She works with Dagmar in the site office, and Wayne wants the lads to take special care of "his new home" their Stalag work hut.

Barry plans on biking across the middle east and, brings the motor bike into the hut to service it.

The last day of the lads time in Germany is a time for them to party, Barry and Wayne get back to an overpowering whif of something terrible.

When the Boat Goes Out
Prismark1019 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There is an end of term feel about the final episode of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.

New EEC rules meant that other European workers have to register with the German authorities.

Most of them want to go back home. It is Dennis who is in a dilemma.

Does he stay with Dagmer or go back to his estranged wife. The kids are the pull for him but really he should go straight in for Dagmer.

As for Oz, Kevin Keegan provides the answer. Keegan headed to Newcastle from FC Hamburg.

At the end the hut catches fire because of Barry's motorbike. Yet again leaving Dennis and Dagmar frustrated.

A fiery end to this raw, earthy landmark series.

You know some people like to say because of wokeness you cannot make old shows anymore. Because of Brexit you cannot make Auf Wiedersehen, Pet set in Europe anymore.

Ironically the voters of North East seemed to be more keen on Brexit.
