Billy Halop, who plays the younger carnival barker, was an original Dead End Kid, Tommy; playing the role throughout the 30s and 40s, and into the Bowery Boys of the 50s. In the 70s he became known as Mr. Munson, of Munson's Cabs on "All in the Family."
Lewis Charles and Billy Halop, the two men who ran the gaffed (crooked) carnival booth, died on the same day of the year (November 9), three years apart.
The carnival scenes mark one of the few times on the show that a Black person can be seen (albeit just in the background with no speaking roles).
