A Case of Mistaken Identity"

Warning: Spoilers
Once again in this episode another beloved character from Mayberry gets highlighted. In this case the character of Paul Hartman's Emmett Clarke. I like how one thing leads to another and how people jump to conclusions. It was a well written episode. I like how Andy in one scene resorts to a little white lie in covering up for Emmett when not really knowing what Emmett was doing. A true friend. But when he saw how broke up Emmett's wife Martha(Mary Lansing)was after seeing him with the waitress Flora(Alberta Nelson), Andy basically told her the truth because he could not stand to see Martha so hurt! Nice. And the scene where Emmett is almost "off the hook" he does not know when to quit and he's back to square one and has to get the mink coat! Priceless!

Plus there is a interesting and nice guest appearance by the great Ronnie Schell(Duke Slater from Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.) as Bernie the furrier.

Dwindlng Away

This show is slowly escaping, not ending. Here is a lame sitcom thing where Emmett has a 25th anniversary coming up and ends up at a cut rate furrier to get his wife a mink. There is nothing the least bit interesting about this episode. It is predictable and sort of sad.

Borrows from Bee's bed jacket & mink.

This episode is more about fun and seeing TAGS actors than quality and big laughs. Ronnie Schell makes his 2nd TAGS appearance as soft sell furrier Bernie. Pretty Flora (Alberta Nelson) as always is a treat. Mrs Pendleton (Ruth McDevitt) is hilarious bossing Opie around in his own house. Ruth McDevitt had her hands full working with Mary Lansing on awkward & annoying crying scenes. Martha (Mary Lansing) I thought was miscast as Emmett's wife. She's very bland & generic for a sizable role in a sitcom. Possibly another choice as Martha would have better results. Minimal Goober (George Lindsey) acting mostly as a sounding board. Stale epilogue laid an egg.
