It's Pretty Ordinary Stuff
Hitchcoc19 December 2019
A man shows up, a member of the Raleigh School Board, to get Helen's input on a new grading system. He is attractive, accomplished, well rounded, and smug. Helen never considers Andy's feeling during any of this. Even if she has no interest in this guy, it appears that she does. It's pretty ordinary stuff for a series that always banked on comedy.

What was Helen thinking?

Warning: Spoilers
Completely inappropriate for a woman in a relationship to sit on the same side of the booth with another man. What an evil woman.

Is there anything Frank doesn't know?

Huge bounce back from stinker "Opie's Job". Charles Aidman is perfectly cast as dry as dust, master of everything Frank Smith. Great line, " Raleigh is becoming a embryonic megalopolis". Andy of course gets jealous even though Helen shows no interest romantically in know-it-all Frank. The writers are giving Andy more frailties, and using Helen's hot temper to create some action with Don Knotts gone. Well written having Frank know, seen, and done everything. (Francis Bavier) Aunt Bee is getting a chance to show her comedic talents stirring up trouble. Andy gets his jealousy stoked by just about everyone praising Frank's towering life & knowledge compared to his piddly accomplishments.

Strange Episode
Green-Eyed-Girl3120 March 2018
Can't quite figure this one out. Andy is unusually passive and seemingly way too prepared to take a back seat to the new teacher friend (Frank) of Helen's. Helen sits closer than I would think appropriate in almost every scene while Frank though seemingly mild is fairly annoying as a kinda know-it-all. It seems to me from the first night Helen brought Frank over, Andy should have stepped up more, for instance when sitting on the bench out front with Helen prior to the guitar scene, he didn't so much as put his arm along the bench behind her to indicate their relationship status. That being said, I think Helen was being disrespectful towards Andy in several instances.

From what I understand with reading of the Andy and Don biography book, there was a certain amount of sexual tension between Andy Griffith and Aneta Corsaut as they were into each other though he was married, so this may very well have played over into some of the series episodes.

Aunt Bea and Gomer are the only ones that seem to have any sense in this episode as to commenting in regards to how things are playing out. Especially Gomer in the scene at the café.

Charles Aidman

I AM A HUGE TAGS & MATLOCK FAN, however, THIS EPISODE is where I first noticed this actor?! Just as others have commented on Helen's behavior toward Andy in this episode, which is NOW 60yrs OLD, I too was a little surprised by her behavior but since it is in the history books now I find no reason to suggest any changes? It WAS A TIME & place where unless a single female had a position in Nursing or with a FAMILY business in which she had privileges, TEACHING was considered a VERY HIGHLY RESPECTED POSITION even if it didn't pay as much as other males had opportunities to take, females even had to be REVERENT to a Male that worked in the Education field as well!?! THAT IS WHY I JUST DISMISSED Helen's behavior but understood Andy's FEELINGS towards the "OTHER MAN."

HELEN IS VERY DISRESPECTFUL OF ANDY'S FEELINGS!

As many times as Helen gets her nose out of joint concerning Andy with other female friends, one would think she would have been more sensitive to Andy's feelings about her reactions to her friend Frank. Also, it was very inappropriate for Helen and Frank to sit on the side of the booth at the diner, since she was Andy's girl!
