WHODUNIT IN THE OLD DARK HOUSE?
tcchelsey20 March 2023
Veteran Robert Leslie Bellem wrote this creepy little tale, a man with imagination, who wrote many episodes for the SUPERMAN tv series among other high adventures. It's interesting to note that tv star William Conrad served as one of the producers and directors of the series, and many of the guest stars on this show turned up on his show, CANNON in the 70s. Case in point, beautiful Julia Adams (as Anne) who is holed up in a strange house, thunder and lighting outside, with many other young woman. Here, Stu has his hands full with the ladies and a millionaire who is renegotiating his alimony?

Do the math. Also in the cast is Joan Staley (as Hannah) and Kathie Brown, who Conrad directed BRAINSTORM the following year. Director and actor Lloyd Corrigan plays the patriarch, Jerry Kenzie, always fun to watch. Former teen star Jimmy Lydon served as co-producer, likewise a frequent guest on CANNON. Jack Webb, as executive producer, was called in by Jack Warner to re-vamp the series for WB tv. What Webb did was move Stu from Hollywood to New York, leaving the rest of the cast behind and changing the famous theme song. This did not sit too well with the audience, however, the stories were excellent and populated with some dynamic actors. It may have been a case of too much too soon, or too late? Whatever the case, this is a neat whodunit. SEASON 6 EPISODE 16 on dvd. And thanks to the DECADES Network for bringing the show back after many years.
