- George Mason: What are you going to do tomorrow? Have you thought about it?
- Michelle Dessler: [caught off guard by his question] what?
- George Mason: Have you thought about it?
- Michelle Dessler: No not really
- George Mason: Probably go back to work here?
- Michelle Dessler: Of course, why wouldn't I?
- George Mason: I don't know, are you happy with this job?
- Michelle Dessler: [remains silent]
- George Mason: Believe it or not, I used to want to be a teacher. A long time ago. You know why I didn't? DOD offered me more money. That's how I made my decision. So I made myself miserable. And I made everybody else around me miserable. For an extra five thousand dollars a year. That was my price. That's how I made my decision. So I made myself miserable, and I made everybody else around me miserable. For an extra five thousand dollars a year. That was my price.
- Michelle Dessler: I'm sorry.
- George Mason: I'm not a big advice giver, but under the circumstances don't wait around for your life to happen to you. Find something that makes you happy, and do it, because everything else is all just background noise.
- Nina Myers: [Pointing a rifle at him] I never meant for this to be personal
- Jack Bauer: [Holding his hands to the back of the head] It felt pretty personal when you killed my wife
- Nina Myers: I had to: Terri overheard something that compromised my escape route
- Jack Bauer: What about bombing CTU? All those people you used to work with
- Nina Myers: I didn't bomb CTU. I just sold the plans
- Jack Bauer: You believe what you have to but you killed your friend
- Nina Myers: [Raises her voice] shut up Jack! Shut up. Now we are done talking, we're just going to wait for Palmer to call and this will all be over, you got it?
- Jack Bauer: You know what? Your right, no I don't really want to sit here waiting to die
- Michelle Dessler: [Nervously] I don't know what happened with Mason but I just wanted to let you know if you wanted to go out sometime...
- Tony Almeida: I've been feeling the same way, I've been just keeping my distance because...
- Michelle Dessler: Is it because of what happened between you and Nina?
- Tony Almeida: [Nods] Yeah.
- Michelle Dessler: [joklingly] so you think I wanted to get closer to you for information?
- Tony Almeida: [Smiling] so what are we saying here? We save L.A.from a bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner.
- President David Palmer: [During a press conference with Mike Novick standing nearby] you've been told by a well respected member of the press: Mr. Ron Wieland that there is an imminent terrorist threat leveled at this country. That is true as far as that goes. The fact is we get a dozen such threats each day. Do I know more than I publicly reveal? Of course. What is released to the public is a matter of judgment and you have elected me to exercise that judgment in the best interests of this country. That's what I've done when I took office. That's what I'm doing today and I assure you that we have the situation well in control and there is no cause for alarm. Thank you
- Agent Richards: [while entering Bob Warner's office] We're here to find transactions you claim Bob Warner had with Syed Ali. The sooner we do that, the sooner we're out of here. Have a seat
- Reza Naiyeer: [after Richards handcuffed his hand to the chair] I can't work like this
- Agent Richards: I'll be keying the computer: how do I open the invoice files?
- Reza Naiyeer: [after rubbing his head] What?
- Agent Richards: I need to access the invoice files
- Reza Naiyeer: File, open warehouse
- Agent Richards: How are they ordered?
- Reza Naiyeer: Chronically, I think
- Agent Richards: You think?
- Reza Naiyeer: my fiancée just left me on my wedding day because I'm sending her father to jail and since his my employer I think that pretty much means my whole life's in the toilet so why don't you cut me some slack?
- Agent Richards: There's a nuke somewhere in the city and if you don't give me something useful in the next hour, I'm taking you back to CTU and chain you to the roof so you'll have a front row seat when the damn thing goes off
- President David Palmer: [to Sherry] tell Mike what you told me
- Sherry Palmer: There's a back channel communications network that the CIA used to call OP-COM: it's been shut down for over twenty years. Last month NSA was given orders to resurrect it. It was an "eyes only" order issued by Roger Stanton
- Mike Novick: [Referring to the amount evidence to arrest Roger] I'm not sure if that's enough
- President David Palmer: By itself, it's not. Unless Roger used call OP-COM to contact Colonel Samuels in the last few hours
- Mike Novick: [to David] my source is checking on that now
- President David Palmer: [to mike] call the Attorney General. Start working on this from the legal side. If we find this connection, we'll move on it, and have Stanton arrested
- President David Palmer: [after hanging up the phone] Jack ok?
- Mike Novick: [Referring to apprehending Nina Meyers] yes, they got to Nina before she could shoot
- President David Palmer: What about her?
- Mike Novick: Just as you requested: she wasn't seriously hurt. Sir, their awaiting your orders. Do you want her taken back to prison?
- President David Palmer: No, we'll honor our original deal. I'll pardon her for the charges of the murder and treason as soon as we can confirm her information
- Mike Novick: In the meantime, where do you want her?
- President David Palmer: Los Angeles. Let her share the fate of everyone she's endangered
- Mike Novick: [Before leaving] yes Sir
- Syed Ali: [Referring to Paul Koplin] do you want to suffer as he did?
- Kate Warner: No, of course not
- Syed Ali: Now tell me what you've learned from your father's computer files? Who you told?
- Kate Warner: I already told you: I don't know anything
- Jack Bauer: [Over the phone] the soldiers that attacked us at the crash site: they were American. At least American trained
- President David Palmer: What?
- Jack Bauer: One of the soldiers that were killed had a tattoo of a coral snake on his arm. That's a signature of a group out of Fort Benning
- President David Palmer: What sort of group?
- Jack Bauer: A deep cover special Ops unit. The only reason I know about the group, Sir is because earlier in my career they tried to recruit me. Their commander is Colonel Samuels
- President David Palmer: I've never heard of this unit
- Jack Bauer: No Sir, you wouldn't have. That's the point, they've be buried pretty deep in NSA's budget
- President David Palmer: NSA? OK, even if NSA originally trained them isn't possible his freelancing now? Mercenaries?
- Jack Bauer: If it was just the tattoo Sir, I'd agree with you but the men that attacked us had access to our flight plan. The only way they could've gotten that information was from the inside. Mr. President, I know it sounds very farfetched but we got attacked by Americans, and that tattoo is very distinctive and very specific
- President David Palmer: I appreciate the information. Where are you now?
- Jack Bauer: We're in a chopper. We're on our way to the address Nina Meyers provided for us. We should be touching down soon Sir. Our ETA is fifteen minutes
- President David Palmer: Keep me posted
- Jack Bauer: Yes Mr. President
- President David Palmer: Tell me everything you know about Colonel Ron Samuels from Fort Benning?
- Roger Stanton: I don't know anything about Colonel Samuels
- President David Palmer: What about a special Ops unit from down there called Coral Snake?
- Roger Stanton: No Sir: nothing
- President David Palmer: How could NSA be funding a paramilitary group and you not know about?
- Roger Stanton: Well, without knowing specifics, I really can't say for sure. My guess is that the Department of Defense has used some of their "discretionary" resources, attached our name for budgetary reasons. It happens all the time
- President David Palmer: That's absurd. NSA is information gathering only. They have no military mandate
- Roger Stanton: I assume that this Coral Snake group, like many others we see falls under somebody's "pet project". It's funded on the side
- President David Palmer: How would you know that? A minute ago you told me you've never heard of them
- Roger Stanton: I'm just conjecturing from past experience. I have no concrete information. Let me look into it
- President David Palmer: You do that
- President David Palmer: Jack Bauer's plane was shot down by an American military unit: Jack told me himself. I won't go into details except to say I believe him
- Mike Novick: American military? Why?
- President David Palmer: I just spoke to Roger Stanton. I think his hiding something from me, I'm going to arrest him
- Sherry Palmer: Arrest the head of NSA?
- President David Palmer: Bauer said the unit that attacked his plane was connected to a Colonel Samuels out of Fort Benning. Samuels is funded by NSA
- Sherry Palmer: With all due respect, that's pretty thin
- President David Palmer: By itself, yes. But the Ambassador's chopper crash, the evacuation of military personnel out of LA, Ron Wieland's escape from custody. Those things happened after Stanton arrived
- Sherry Palmer: Firing Stanton will cause chaos. All the agencies report through him. His running the search for the bomb for crying out loud
- Mike Novick: If the President's right, his not running the search, his "impeding" it
- Sherry Palmer: Why would he do such a thing?
- Mike Novick: I don't know but if he is, you have a better chance of finding the bomb if we get rid of him
- Sherry Palmer: [to David] you can't do this on a hunch. if Stanton turns out to be innocent and that bomb goes off, you'll be blamed for the deaths of a million people
- Mike Novick: [to Sherry] if you do nothing and if he is guilty of something he'll be blamed anyway
- Sherry Palmer: [to David] no at the very least we need to get kind of proof. Some evidence, you cannot just arrest the head of NSA
- President David Palmer: [to Mike] she's right we need proof, find me a connection to Stanton and this Colonel Samuels and find it quickly
- George Mason: [Over the phone] where are you?
- Jack Bauer: I'm on site: Syed Ali's in the house. We're going to be ready to move in about a minute. We're going to need auxiliary teams ready to move anywhere in the city as soon as we find out the location of this bomb
- George Mason: Yeah, we're already working on it
- Jack Bauer: Ok good I'll get back to you as soon as we get him
- Jack Bauer: [after introducing himself] I'm a federal agent: I know you've been through a terrible ordeal in there but I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you a few questions would that be alright?
- Jack Bauer: [after she nods] how did you get here?
- Kate Warner: I was trying to help my sister so I hired a private investigator. Those men thought we knew something but we didn't...
- Jack Bauer: [Interrupts her] slow down. The dead man in the other room, that was the private investigator?
- Kate Warner: [Referring to the terrorists torturing him] yes. Paul Koplin, what they did to him
- Jack Bauer: They? There was more than one man here? How many men were there?
- Kate Warner: Two. The other one left before you came
- Jack Bauer: Did you get his name?
- Kate Warner: Yes. Syed Ali
- Jack Bauer: Are you sure?
- Jack Bauer: [after she nods] can you describe him for me?
- Kate Warner: Tall, thin
- Jack Bauer: Do you remember what kind of clothes he was wearing?
- Jack Bauer: Black shirt with silver buttons down the front, and black pants
- Jack Bauer: Do you remember what kind of car he got into when he left?
- Jack Bauer: [Shaking her head] do you know where he was going? Excuse me for one moment
- Jack Bauer: [Over the radio] Baker, this is agent Bauer. Syed Ali is still alive. We're looking for a Middle Eastern man wearing all black. I didn't get a make on the car. Send out an APB. We need to find him now
- Jack Bauer: [to Kate] you said you came here to help your sister, who is she?
- Kate Warner: Marie Warner, she was suppose to get married today
- Jack Bauer: [Over the phone] I'm still at the house. Look, I just finished questioning the woman Syed Ali was torturing for information: her name is Kate Warner. I want you to run a background check
- Tony Almeida: Did you just say Kate Warner?
- Jack Bauer: Yeah, why?
- Tony Almeida: I had her family picked up this morning. I was with Kate Warner a few hours ago
- Jack Bauer: What're you talking about? What's the connection?
- Tony Almeida: A guy named Reza Naiyeer is her sister's fiancé. His had dealings with Syed Ali. Of course his denying it. He said it was the father, Bob Warner. I had Richards take Naiyeer over to Warner's office to hack into his computer. I have Warner right now. Will Kate talk to you? because her family's not cooperating
- Jack Bauer: Yeah I think so. I've got to give her a bit of time, she's been through hell, you should see this place
- Tony Almeida: There's one more thing. Her father Bob Warner, freelances for the CIA
- Jack Bauer: Ok, look we're going to have to start from the beginning on this thing. You're going to have to run everything and start connecting the dots. These people are involved somehow. You've got to find out how, get back to me as soon as you got anything
- Tony Almeida: Alright you got it
- President David Palmer: [Over the phone] yeah those three dates and anything the following week: hold on
- Sherry Palmer: Ok good. Let me know if you find something out
- Mike Novick: Sir,
- President David Palmer: What've you got?
- Mike Novick: I found a way to get into the OP-COM channels
- President David Palmer: Good
- Mike Novick: The problem is the files are password protected. We're going to need someone internal to open them. It'll take time
- Sherry Palmer: No, it's not. I just got the name of a Deputy Director who's retired but his code is still active. We could use that
- Mike Novick: I'll head over to the OC to check it out
- President David Palmer: Good
- President David Palmer: I'm collecting the dates Colonel Samuels' office logged on OP-COM. if Mike can trace Stanton access, we can look for a match
- President David Palmer: Great
- Sherry Palmer: If we have that, you'll have all the proof you need
- Mike Novick: Wait a minute, Stanton has a dozen staff that shares his code. How are we going to pin it on him?
- Sherry Palmer: There's a four digit sub-code that only belongs to him. That's the one that'll nail him
- President David Palmer: You're doing an incredible job here today
- Sherry Palmer: Thank you
- President David Palmer: I had forgotten how talented you are with all this stuff
- Sherry Palmer: I've worked with you for over twenty-five years. It had to rub off me somehow
- President David Palmer: [while rubbing her shoulder] I'm glad you're here
- Sherry Palmer: I've always been here, you remember that?
- President David Palmer: [Before walking away] yeah
- Kate Warner: [Recalling her encounter with Ali] after he left, after he killed Mr. Koplin: he talked for a minute or two. Looked at me couple times, it was like I wasn't important anymore. They embraced and he left
- Jack Bauer: Did they say anything to each other when he was leaving?
- Kate Warner: Yes but they spoke so softly, mostly in Arabic
- Jack Bauer: Arabic? How could you be so sure?
- Kate Warner: My family lived in Saudi Arabia when I was younger. When my sister was engaged to Reza, I picked it up again
- Jack Bauer: Can you identify any words they said? Anything at all?
- Kate Warner: [after telling him she remembered the word for prayer] I couldn't really hear anything else
- Jack Bauer: [after looking at his watch, over the radio] Baker, this is Jack. I want you to get a hold of CTU, I want a list of mosques in a fifty mile radius
- Tom Baker: Mosque?
- Jack Bauer: They were talking about prayer before Ali left. The time fits
- Tom Baker: Roger that
- Kate Warner: Did that help?
- Jack Bauer: Yes, I think it did. The normal protocol would be to transfer you back to CTU for further debriefing but the truth is I don't know what Syed Ali looks like. No one does. Except for you. I need you to identify him for me
- Sherry Palmer: [Over the phone] it's me
- Roger Stanton: I told you not to call me here
- Sherry Palmer: I need to warn you: they know about OP-COM
- Roger Stanton: How?
- Sherry Palmer: I told them
- Roger Stanton: You what?
- Sherry Palmer: He was going to find out one way or the other. This way I get him to trust me little by little
- Roger Stanton: What'd we do now?
- Sherry Palmer: They'll connect you to the plane that was shot down. David's having an arrest warrant drawn up as we speak. Stay the course, when this is over you'll have everything you want. In the meantime, it's important you don't talk
- Roger Stanton: Don't talk about you? You mean?
- Sherry Palmer: That's right. It's more important than ever that I stay in place
