- Jack Bauer: [to Nina, while on a plane, on their way to meet her terrorist contact] The Sunday before you killed my wife, Teri and I went to the boardwalk in Venice just watching all the rollerbladers and musicians, laughing at the crazy people, spending time together, and she sees this snow cone stand and giggles like a kid. She takes off running, she wants to get in line, she wants one. I remember I was watching her, I was just couldn't help myself. When I look up at her she's talking to this old lady in line behind her and the two of them are laughing, and I'm thinking to myself, how the hell does she do that. How does she strike up a conversation with an absolute stranger? And they just start laughing, like they'd been friends forever. That's a gift. I remember thinking, God, I wish I could do that. But I can't. That was Teri. My wife. That's what you took from this world, that's what you took from me and my daughter. I just wanted you to know that.
- Sherry Palmer: Tell me about Ron Wieland
- President David Palmer: What about him?
- Sherry Palmer: I just got off the phone with Sam Rivanry with the network: he said no one's heard from him since he met with you this morning, you didn't detain him did you?
- President David Palmer: You are here today to help me: not question my judgment
- Sherry Palmer: And I am trying to help. What's going on with Wieland?
- President David Palmer: He was going to go public with a rumor
- Sherry Palmer: About the bomb?
- President David Palmer: I cannot afford a panic
- Sherry Palmer: You can't keep him locked up indefinitely, people already are starting to ask questions
- President David Palmer: We're "holding" him at the OC, when the crisis passes, I'll let him go
- Sherry Palmer: Meanwhile you've got a problem, his disappearance are raising questions you don't want to answer
- President David Palmer: I put Armus on it
- Sherry Palmer: Apparently that hasn't helped, the word is getting out
- President David Palmer: What'd you suggest?
- Sherry Palmer: Give him an on air exclusive when this is over
- President David Palmer: I offered that to him. He didn't want it
- Sherry Palmer: Then let me talk to him. One talent I have is dealing with the media and I know Ron. He likes me
- President David Palmer: No, you're here to gather information
- Sherry Palmer: And to help, you said so yourself and today you can't afford to ignore that. Let me try talking to Ron
- President David Palmer: What would you say?
- Sherry Palmer: Oh, I'll make it worth his while not to say anything
- Paul Koplin: [Introducing himself] Paul Koplin, nice to meet you
- Kate Warner: Hi, thanks for coming
- Paul Koplin: No problem
- Kate Warner: Come on in
- Paul Koplin: I spoke to Ralph, he told which files we need to look into
- Kate Warner: Are they the ones that link Reza to this terrorist?
- Paul Koplin: Yes: Syed Ali. The company computer is connected to this house. I'm going to hack some passwords. I'm assuming your authorizing me to do that?
- Kate Warner: Yeah, of course. I still don't understand though why they had to drag my family in for questioning on my sister's wedding day
- Paul Koplin: I'm surprised too, it's a whole new world out there now
- Ron Wieland: Just when I thought this day couldn't get stranger
- Sherry Palmer: I can imagine you're not happy about all of this
- Ron Wieland: I'd like to know what "this" is
- Sherry Palmer: Well, I don't exactly know myself
- Ron Wieland: I don't believe you: but unless they kill me I'm going to have the story of the year. I've been kidnapped by the leader of the free world
- Sherry Palmer: Oh, that's not necessarily true, there actually has been precedent for this kind of Executive action
- Ron Wieland: If your here to try to shut me up, you're wasting your time. They sensed that I was onto something, the fact that they locked me up only confirms it. I'm coming out of here with a story. Deal with it
- Sherry Palmer: Mind if I sit down?
- Ron Wieland: Of course not
- Sherry Palmer: We'd like to release you and we will but we need assurances that you're not going to go public with the rumors you were threatening to broadcast
- Ron Wieland: In return for what? I get some exclusive with the President on some "watered down" story?
- Sherry Palmer: Not "watered down" story. Something else. Don't say anything about this morning, the President will let you inside of the OC to report first hand. No journalist has been inside there
- Ron Wieland: Why'd they send you down here to make this offer? In fact what are you even doing back inside David Palmer's inner circle?
- Sherry Palmer: Take the deal in a couple of hours, they'll brief you and you'll know more than I do
- President David Palmer: How'd it go with Wieland?
- Sherry Palmer: His not going to play ball: he knows his got the upper hand
- President David Palmer: He knows we have to let him go eventually. Whether or not there's a legal precedent for this, his got one hell of a story
- Sherry Palmer: Oh, I'm so sorry. I thought I could charm him
- President David Palmer: [while walking to sit at his desk] ok, that'll be all
- Sherry Palmer: Why are you treating me like this?
- President David Palmer: This is not about you. I just have more important things to deal with right now
- Sherry Palmer: You know you've always been able to forgive. Always given everyone a second chance but not me. I came here to tell you that you were right to kick me off the campaign. Right to file for divorce
- President David Palmer: Where's all this coming from?
- Sherry Palmer: A place of honesty, realization, I was too caught up in the power
- President David Palmer: And you're not now?
- Sherry Palmer: Of course you know I love it but now I am aware of what I can and can't handle
- President David Palmer: So, what're you asking for?
- Sherry Palmer: Let me help you if I bring to you can be "useful", and then you can consider it a start to a new confidence
- President David Palmer: I promise you absolutely nothing in return
- Sherry Palmer: OK
- Bob Warner: [to Tony when he walks into the interrogation room] why have I been kept here waiting like this?
- Tony Almeida: Sit down please
- Bob Warner: I have some information
- Tony Almeida: [Raises his voice] sit down. What information do you have?
- Bob Warner: I'm not supposed to talk to anybody about this but under the circumstances, I am a consultant for the CIA. There's a contact for my liaison: call Langley and they'll verify
- Tony Almeida: [Looking at the contact card Warner put on the table] why didn't you tell me about this back at house?
- Bob Warner: Oh come on, you know the drill. I'm not suppose to talk to anyone about this without clearance
- Tony Almeida: What's your I-3 protocol?
- Bob Warner: I was approached about five years ago because of my international investment work. They asked me how would I like to help my country I said "OK"
- Tony Almeida: What'd you do?
- Bob Warner: My corporation is used as a "conduit" to pass information back and forth
- Tony Almeida: To who?
- Bob Warner: I don't know, that is the truth. Listen to me, I am not an enemy of this country. I am a patriot, I love my country I don't know any Syed Ali nor do I know why there is a record of me doing business with him
- Tony Almeida: Well, if that's true you have nothing to worry about do you? There is a connection between your company and Syed Ali and I'm going to find out what it is. So in the meantime sit tight I'm going to check this out
- Tony Almeida: [Over the phone] look, I don't know how to tell you this but we're on the other line with the Sherriff station, they're holding your daughter Kim
- Jack Bauer: Holding her for what?
- Tony Almeida: She's being held on some kind of criminal charges
- Jack Bauer: What're you talking about?
- Tony Almeida: I have her on a second line should I patch it through?
- Jack Bauer: Yes, get Mason on this now
- George Mason: I'm already on with the precinct, we're working on it
- Jack Bauer: Obviously there's some kind of mistake I need you to straighten it out and get Kim out of Los Angeles
- George Mason: I'll take care of it
- Kim Bauer: Daddy?
- Jack Bauer: Kim, what happened?
- Kim Bauer: I was leaving the city like you said and I was with Meagan and my boyfriend Miguel and the CHP pulled us over for speeding. They found a body in the trunk: it was Carla's body
- Jack Bauer: Carla, the woman you work for?
- Kim Bauer: Yeah
- Tony Almeida: Were you able to get anything else off the recording of Faheen?
- Michelle Dessler: It's ninety-nine percent noise
- Tony Almeida: You ok?
- Michelle Dessler: Yeah, just "running on empty"
- Tony Almeida: Why don't you get something to eat?
- Michelle Dessler: I'm fine
- Tony Almeida: [Noticing the blood stain on her neck] you're bleeding here
- Michelle Dessler: It's somebody else's blood
- Tony Almeida: [Seeing her become teary eyed] look, why don't take a few minutes to clean up and get changed? You'll feel better. Hey, we're going to survive this day, go get changed
- Lynne Kresge: [Handing him a file folder] these are the FAA guidelines Stanton sent to local law enforcement and the FBI
- President David Palmer: I understand Sherry ran into Stanton
- Lynne Kresge: I didn't know that
- President David Palmer: Has he said anything to you about her being here?
- Lynne Kresge: I don't think his very happy about it
- President David Palmer: Do you have a problem with her?
- Lynne Kresge: I know you think she's useful to you Sir
- President David Palmer: That's not what I asked
- Mike Novick: I honestly welcome help wherever we get it and if you feel she performs a function here then...
- Mike Novick: [Interrupts them by walking into his office] Sir you better out here
