- Vice President Jim Prescott: [Over the phone] we'll be reconvening the Cabinet within the hour: does the President have any idea on what's going on?
- Mike Novick: I don't think so
- Vice President Jim Prescott: We'll keep it that way. It's critical he doesn't find out
- Mike Novick: It's not going to be that easy. Lynne Kresge was about to warn him but I was able to intervene
- Vice President Jim Prescott: Where is she now?
- Mike Novick: I had to put her under guard
- Vice President Jim Prescott: I know it's difficult. It's difficult for all of us
- Mike Novick: It doesn't feel like we're doing the right thing
- Vice President Jim Prescott: Do you think these are the circumstance in which I want to assume the Presidency? You know me better than that. This country was attacked by a nuclear weapon and the President won't commit to a military response. I hope you're not wavering yourself
- Mike Novick: No. I'm not
- Vice President Jim Prescott: Good, so your responsibility is to make sure the Cabinet members votes to remove him from office
- Mike Novick: I have a responsibility to make sure the vote takes place, not to manipulate the outcome
- Vice President Jim Prescott: Poor choice of words but my point is the same. You're doing the right thing. History will recognize that
- President David Palmer: Anything from Jack Bauer?
- Mike Novick: Not that I've heard
- President David Palmer: I know you think delaying the military response is the wrong call
- Mike Novick: Only because you're relying on a single source
- President David Palmer: Jack Bauer says he has evidence that we're being manipulated into this war: I have to give him the opportunity to produce the proof
- Mike Novick: If there was anything I could say to change your mind?
- President David Palmer: There isn't. Look, I know this is an unpopular decision, even though you don't agree either. You standing by me means a great deal. Send Lynne into my office. She's going to help me draft my statement
- Mike Novick: I'll see if I can find her
- President David Palmer: What'd you mean?
- Mike Novick: She wasn't feeling well. She took a few minutes downtime last I heard
- President David Palmer: That's fine. Let her rest. I'll go over it with Jenny
- Aaron Pierce: Yes Mr. President?
- President David Palmer: Close the door. How many Administrations have you worked for?
- Aaron Pierce: I came in during Reagan's second term
- President David Palmer: I haven't been able to establish contact with my Vice President in the last half hour: what do you make of that?
- Aaron Pierce: I wouldn't know how respond to that Mr. President
- President David Palmer: I just pulled our bombers out of the air, against everyone's recommendations. Now my Vice President is suddenly unreachable. Should I draw any conclusions?
- Aaron Pierce: Sir, I'm not qualified to...
- President David Palmer: [Interrupts him] you've been doing this for nearly twenty years. You know how the system works, is Prescott planning something behind my back?
- Aaron Pierce: [Over his radio] I'm going twenty-ten, please cover position three
- Aaron Pierce: [Leans forward] for what it's worth, I think the choices you've made today have been the right ones
- President David Palmer: That's not what I asked
- Aaron Pierce: Sir, there are always going to be those inside the Administration feel the delay is a weakness. If enough people share this view...
- President David Palmer: [Interrupts him] is Prescott coming after me?
- Aaron Pierce: I'm not sure but you have good instincts Sir. I'd listen to them if I were you
- President David Palmer: Thank you
- Alexander Trepkos: Max is very unhappy
- Peter Kingsley: Max can be unhappy: we're all entitled to our feelings
- Alexander Trepkos: Spare me your usual metaphysical observations. Our entire project depends on the military action the President just suspended
- Peter Kingsley: For now
- Alexander Trepkos: Now is all that matters
- Peter Kingsley: Now you're being metaphysical. Palmer is not going to be able to withstand the political pressures from his own Administration, let alone the will of the people. His not going to have any choice but to respond to the nuclear weapon
- Alexander Trepkos: You assured us that this man Bauer hasn't already delivered to his people the false Cypress audio
- Peter Kingsley: Bauer won't be a problem
- Mike Novick: You wanted to see me Sir?
- President David Palmer: Yes, close the door please. Have a seat: I've been feeling a little disconnected from my people in the last hour
- Mike Novick: Mr. President, I've been trying to manage the Joint Chiefs and Homeland Security. if you want me closer...
- President David Palmer: [Interrupts him] not you. Back in Washington
- Mike Novick: Who?
- President David Palmer: Prescott. I think his avoiding me
- Mike Novick: With what we've been through in the last eighteen hours, I'm certain his just being pulled in ten directions
- President David Palmer: We were and in some ways we are still on the brink of war. I'm the Commander in Chief, when I call, there's only one direction
- Mike Novick: [Before leaving] absolutely. I'll get him on the phone right away
- President David Palmer: Do that, this statement that Jenny made a pass on is not working
- Mike Novick: What's the problem?
- President David Palmer: The facts aren't updated and I don't think Jenny been apprised of everything. I want Lynne to go over it
- Mike Novick: Why don't you give it to me? I'll get it to her
- President David Palmer: Thank you
- Mike Novick: [Over the phone] can you talk?
- Vice President Jim Prescott: Yeah
- Mike Novick: Are you going forward or not?
- Vice President Jim Prescott: Of course: nothing's changed
- Mike Novick: The sooner you can execute, the better
- Vice President Jim Prescott: We're going as fast as we can here
- Mike Novick: David Palmer is not a stupid man. He knows something is going on. It won't take long for him to figure out what it is
- Vice President Jim Prescott: How does he know?
- Mike Novick: For one thing you haven't returned his calls
- Vice President Jim Prescott: I'll call him now
- Mike Novick: I think that's a good idea
- Vice President Jim Prescott: I'm counting on you, you've got to keep him busy until I get everyone together
- Mike Novick: How much longer?
- Vice President Jim Prescott: About a half hour, forty-five minutes tops
- Mike Novick: The sooner the better. I'm all alone out here on this. He started to ask about Lynne Kresge. I can't keep up the act much longer
- Vice President Jim Prescott: You won't have to
- President David Palmer: [Over the phone with Mike Novick standing nearby] we both know you've been one of the most outspoken opponents to my decision to call off the attack
- Vice President Jim Prescott: Any criticism I may have had have been expressed behind closed doors: out of reach of any public scrutiny
- President David Palmer: I know we haven't had a chance to talk one on one since this all began but if you have something to tell me go ahead
- Vice President Jim Prescott: There's nothing Sir
- President David Palmer: My door's always open. If you have something to say, I'd expect you to bring it to me first
- Vice President Jim Prescott: Of course Mr. President
- President David Palmer: [Before hanging up] thanks for getting back to me
- President David Palmer: [to Mike] I still don't trust him
- Mike Novick: What'd you want me to do?
- Aaron Pierce: I'm sorry to interrupt Sir
- President David Palmer: What is it?
- Aaron Pierce: Lynne Kresge is injured, she fell down some stairs
- President David Palmer: What happened?
- Aaron Pierce: We're still not sure. It appears she may have been running from a fire from one of the upstairs rooms
- President David Palmer: Is she ok?
- Aaron Pierce: On site physician says she's critical
- President David Palmer: Show me where
- Tony Almeida: So, what'd you find out from dispatch?
- Michelle Dessler: Jack called me from his cell: it came from somewhere between Encino and Studio City
- Tony Almeida: [Pointing to her computer screen] ok so he was at an urgent care unit right around here about two hours ago
- Michelle Dessler: Yeah
- Tony Almeida: If he was coming to CTU, he'd probably take the 101 or the 105 right?
- Michelle Dessler: Do you want me to pull up the satellite?
- Tony Almeida: No, it'd just raise a red flag with Chappelle and that's the last thing I need right now
- Michelle Dessler: What about police channels? If he couldn't contact us, he'd try someone local?
- Tony Almeida: Can you monitor those without being detected?
- Michelle Dessler: Yeah
- Tony Almeida: Alright focus on the downtown precincts
- Michelle Dessler: OK
- Carrie Turner: Chappelle's going to find out
- Tony Almeida: What're you talking about?
- Carrie Turner: He told you not to waste anymore time looking for Jack: but that's all you and Michelle are doing right now
- Tony Almeida: Why aren't you working on the field intel?
- Carrie Turner: Don't shun me out. I'm just trying to help you keep your job
- Tony Almeida: Really? By doing what?
- Carrie Turner: Not saying anything
- Tony Almeida: Ok then don't say anything
- Carrie Turner: I want something in return
- Tony Almeida: And what would that be?
- Carrie Turner: Michelle worked for me at District, things were much better that way. She's not qualified to be my boss, that's why things have been so messed up here tonight
- Tony Almeida: So, you want Michelle's job? Is that what this is about?
- Carrie Turner: Yes and I assume you want to keep yours?
- Tony Almeida: Yeah
- Tony Almeida: [Calling him from across the room] Mr. Chappelle, can you come here a second?
- Ryan Chappelle: What'd you need Almeida?
- Tony Almeida: Carrier's got something she needs to tell you
- Ryan Chappelle: [Walking over] what is it Carrie?
- Ryan Chappelle: [after she remains silent] well?
- Tony Almeida: Carrie was trying to extort a promotion out of me by promising to keep her mouth shut
- Ryan Chappelle: Mouth shut about what?
- Carrie Turner: He and Michelle are still trying to find Jack Bauer. I was just trying to give Tony the courtesy of a warning. I was going to tell you Mr. Chappelle...
- Ryan Chappelle: [Interrupts her] that's enough Carrie. Get back to work
- Carrie Turner: Yes sir
- Ryan Chappelle: I thought I made myself clear. We're past Bauer
- Tony Almeida: No sir. I'm not. You are. I'm still Director of CTU and I'm allocating reasonable resources to ensure we have all the facts. If you're not comfortable with me making my own decisions, I suggest you relieve me of my duties right now
- Ryan Chappelle: That won't be necessary
- Tony Almeida: Thank you sir
- Ryan Chappelle: Don't thank me. I just don't have anyone to take your place right now. I don't like insubordination
- Raymond O'Hara: [while pointing a gun at him, after sees Jack unconscious] If you don't revive this man, your dead
- Dr. Spire: [referring to Jack, nervously] You need to put him on the gurney
- Raymond O'Hara: [to his men, referring to Jack] Put him up on the gurney
- Ronnie Stark: [yells to Dr. Spire, referring to injecting Jack with epinephrine] What're you waiting for? Do it
- Ronnie Stark: [referring to Jack, and the defibrillator] Give him the paddles
- Dr. Spire: [before activating a dose of electric current] Clear
- Raymond O'Hara: still unconscious
- Ronnie Stark: [referring to giving Jack another electric current, yells] Hit him again
- Dr. Spire: [before activating a dose of electric current] Clear
- Dr. Spire: [after looking at the sinus rhythm on the monitor of an electrocardiogram] It's too late: it's gonna work
- Ronnie Stark: [referring to giving Jack another electric current, yells] Hit him again
- Dr. Spire: [before activating a dose of electric current] Clear
- Dr. Spire: [after he sees the P waves on the monitor of the electrocardiogram] Go, come on, we've got sinus rhythm
- Dr. Spire: [before Jack is revived] I need saline
- Ronnie Stark: [relived, to O'Hara, referring to O'Hara's previous phone conversation] What did Kingsley say?
- Raymond O'Hara: [before killing Stark] He said I just got promoted
- Marcus: [to Kate] You better hurry up
- Kate Warner: [after She opens her family's safe for them] There
- Marcus: [disappointed, while holding the currency] What the hell is this?
- Kate Warner: There should be at least twenty thousand euros there
- Marcus: euros?
- Kate Warner: It's European money
- Marcus: [annoyed, throws the euros on the floor] I look European to you? Where's the cash?
- Kate Warner: That is cash: it's as good as dollars
- Marcus: [points his gun at her neck, referring to him and his friends] We want cash money, you understand me?
- Cole: [getting his attention while holding an envelope he removed from the safe containing American currency] Marcus
- Rouse: [after Marcus quickly grabs the envelope and counts the money, while holding a gold bracelet he removed from the safe] You think this is real?
- Cole: [irritated by his question] Why would they keep the fake ones locked up?
- Marcus: [referring to the amount of American currency from the envelope] Fifteen hundred
- Rouse: That's it?
- Marcus: that's it
- Rouse: [to Marcus] now what do we do?
- Kate Warner: [nervously, to them, referring to the computer chip with an audio file saved on it] look, just take it all: just give me the chip
- Marcus: [to his friends, referring to Kate] she knows what we look like: knows our names too
- Kate Warner: [realizing their going to kill her] we had a deal
- Rouse: his right: we can't just leave you here
- Kate Warner: [to all of them] look, take everything, I won't tell anyone, I won't tell the police I promise, just give me the chip
- Cole: [walks up to him, referring to not killing her] Marcus, don't do this. Let's just take the stuff and go
- Marcus: the second we're out of here, she's calling the cops, I can't get locked up again
- Ryan Chappelle: [after seeing Michelle rush out of Tony's office] what's that all about?
- Tony Almeida: Jack Bauer just tried to contact us: we lost connection
- Ryan Chappelle: I told you I don't want Bauer distracting you or your resources. Whatever his doing out there is irrelevant
- Tony Almeida: I'm not so sure it is. Jack says his got proof the Cypress audio was fabricated. He says his going to bring it here within the hour
- Ryan Chappelle: If his got proof, let him produce it but I want you to keep "Your eye on the ball"
