Enjoyable Z-Movie
claudio_carvalho27 October 2013
Dana (Jessica Ellis) and her boyfriend Tyler (Terry Erioski) own a cleaning company and they travel with his stepbrother Iggy (Zak Kilberg) to clean up an old house for the arrogant real state agent Carl (Brad Milne). They invite the promiscuous Heather (Laura Stein); her boyfriend Brandon (Travis Wood) and the pothead Razz (Billy Beck) that are their friends, to help them. They meet Carl and his secretary Alexandra (Jen Alex Gonzalez) in the house and when they clean the basement, there is a bad smell and they find a book made of flesh. Iggy translates the text and discovers that the place is a portal to an evil female demon that was summoned one hundred years ago. He also discovers that a sin would be capable to awake the She Demon (Adriana Esquivel) and the group decides to have no sex in the house. But it is too late since Heather and Brandon are alone in a bedroom. Now the She Demon is unleashed and they find that they are trapped in the house.

"The Slaughter" is a low-budget movie with flawed characters (Carl and Alexandra are unbearable; Brandon and Razz are douchebags); poor locations and special effects; and a screenplay that should be improved. The makeup and the camera work are good and in the end, considering the budget, this Z-movie is enjoyable and entertains. My vote is five.

Title (Brazil): "O Massacre" ("The Slaughter")

Unoriginal stab at bloodletting cinema
fertilecelluloid17 June 2006
Can't say I was too impressed with Jay Lee's pretty unoriginal stab at cinematic bloodletting. A bunch of irritating teens and some twentysomethings rock up at at an old house which they have agreed to help renovate. Before too long, the renovators are getting murdered and possessed by demons resembling the offspring of the "Evil Dead" monsters. The problem is is it's been done too many times before in movies like the above-mentioned and "Night of the Demons", to name a few. Although there are a couple of decent gore effects, the acting is sincere but over-the-top and the dialog is of the cynical, smart ass variety. For its low budget, tech credits are acceptable and the sound mix is rich.

More terrible low budget horror crap.
poolandrews8 July 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The Slaughter starts as brother & sister Dana (Jexxica Ellis) & Tyler (Terry Erioski) along with their adopted brother Iggy (Zach Kilberg) arrive at a large abandoned house which has laid empty for four years, they are joined by lovers Heather (Laura Bach) & Brandon (Travis Wood) along with Razz (Billy Beck) who have all been hired to clean the house up by it's owner Carl Stevens (Brad Milne). While in the basement Brandon finds a human skin bound book of demonic incantations which when read will start a chain reaction of events needed by some ancient evil she-demon (Adriana Esquivel) to take flesh form & take control of the Earth using her evil black magic & hordes of zombies, it never rains it's pours eh? She must be stopped, but how & by whom...

Edited, photographed, written & directed by Jay Lee I thought The Slaughter was yet another mind numbingly bad low budget horror flick that has a few gore effects going for it but nothing else. The script which starts off very seriously at about 70 minutes in when the zombies show up turns into some camp comedy & is an absolute bore, after the opening scenes which has a couple of deaths it's over an hour before anyone else gets killed. That's over an hour of watching highly annoying & clichéd American teenagers argue, act tough, act nice, act slutty, act scared, act like total idiots & just about any other horror film cliché you care to mention. I'm sorry it's all been done before & better so why should I give The Slaughter any slack? Then there's the alarming similarity between this & The Evil Dead (1982), that's right The Slaughter is an Evil bloody Dead rip-off with it's book, it's possessed teens & ancient demons. Unfortunately for The Slaughter the two films are worlds apart in terms of entertainment value & quality, this really is pretty bad stuff with some horribly forced self referential dialogue nonsense as two character's discuss the different merits of the old fashioned slow moving zombie & the new athletic ones seen in recent films.

Director Lee obviously shot on a hand-held digital camcorder & it looks like he edited on his PC at home, there are some pretty bad lighting & editing technique's here. It's not scary, the comedy doesn't work & it's full of dumb scenes including zombies who never attack anyone they just stand there in front of people with their arms outstretched. There's a few decent gore scenes here but don't expect much to happen for the first hour, someones leg is twisted & they get pulled down into the ground & puke their guts up, there's a slit throat, a decapitation, someone is seen cut in half, someone is impaled on a coat hanger, the skin on someones face is sliced off, there are various zombies, someone is burnt to death & someones hand is cut although none of it looks that good. There's some nudity as well.

With a supposed budget of about $1,000,000 this wasn't as low budget as I had thought which makes what ended up on screen look even worse. The whole film is shot in the same dull house & it's not a particularly impressive production. The acting is bad from a highly irritating cast of teens.

The Slaughter is a bad The Evil Dead rip-off & there's no two ways about it, the fact that it's low budget doesn't make any difference to me as I still think it's crap & a low budget is no excuse for making a rubbish film. Not recommended, see The Evil Dead again instead.

Relax! Just silly no-budget, gory fun
TonyDood27 October 2008
I'll say this, "The Slaughter" starts out great. The opening scene with a bevy of the most beautiful witches (or witch worshipers, or whatever they are) that have probably ever graced the screen this side of porn getting naked, seductively self-mutilating themselves (!!) and calling to life the demon-woman pictured on the DVD cover is up there with the phantasmagoria of Ken Russell in his prime. It's very MTV but also effective...all double exposures and reaching hands, muted, digitized images and an eerie score. I was already prepared to accept I'd gotten my $1 rental money's worth for taking a gamble on an unknown DVD with a neato cover. Had it gone on in this way I was prepared to call this the most original fear film to have come out in decades, but it couldn't keep it up.

Cut to a bunch of beautiful, stupid young people "required" to be in a haunted house for one of the lamest reasons ever (they're cleaning it) and we're back on the same ol' territory as any run-of-the mill haunted house flick. The good news is that this is a dumb movie about idiotic people made by people who appear to be quite smart. The characters are oddly likable because it's clear the actors are talented and were having a ball (I particularly enjoyed the brain-fried stoner and the slutty girl). Unfortunately, the tone of the film goes from being scary-with-some-humor to out and out ridiculous and it descends into "student film" territory. I wish we were having as much fun as the people making the movie seemed to have been...either let us in on the joke or let us laugh AT you, but when people in a movie on a screen are laughing at themselves it seldom is fun for an audience.

The script has some fun one-liners and fast-paced dialog, the effects, though incredibly cheap, are fun, the gore is gratuitous and gloppy and the make-up on the demon-woman is really, really nice. The actors are all beautiful and fun to watch, the attack scenes (when they come--you have to wait a good 50 minutes! Sheesh!) are satisfying. Too bad the witch just never really DOES anything, too bad there's just no plot at all and too bad we've seen most of this before a million times. The speed-monster-metal score is a nice touch, though it doesn't really suit the material that well.

Oh, who am I fooling--this movie blows! It really is something only a slightly-feeble-minded 12 year old could truly enjoy, but as a dirt-cheap rental before Halloween I found it was actually amusing enough. Next!

It started here
alicespiral15 June 2008
After the Texas Chainsaw Massacre-which was genuinely frightening-the floodgates opened for what became the Video Nasty. You can't argue with the blurb which namechecks Leatherface but what follows is more than absurd. It starts off quite boringly as the students-how original-are detailed to clean up an empty house. Which then becomes an excuse to throw in Zombie Flesh Eaters as the acting is appalling-they must have been students in reality but obviously not students of acting. With someone attempting to philosophise along the way-about sex what else?-the story is virtually non existent and while the TCM bore some resemblance to a true story this one has more in common with a horror comic. The 1 star is for the music at the beginning-it sounded quite ambient!

The Slaughter
Scarecrow-8816 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
A group gather together to clean up a house to be put on the market, which has a dark history as we see at the opening of Jay Lee's THE SLAUGHTER(many will know Jay Lee from his more familiar film, ZOMBIE STRIPPERS!). Brad Milne is the "capitalist pig", Carl Stevens, always fooling with a Cuban cigar, the businessman demanding the young adults cleaning up his property to do a thorough job(he's simply here as a hissable cretin who barks orders and expects results). Tyler(Terry Erioski)and his adopted brother Iggy(Zak Kilberg), with Tyler's girlfriend, Dana(Jessica Custodio)are in charge of the clean up. Along for the clean up is Dana's friend, Heather(smokin' blond Laura Bach), her arrogant jock boyfriend Brandon(Travis Wood), and pothead Razz(Billy Beck). These are the characters who will assemble and become the targets of a "hell spun succubus"(Adriana Esquivel, easily the best thing about this movie; you sure see why victims would fall prey to her)awakened by accident while Heather and Brandon are having sex. The house is the epicenter for demonic activity because it is located over unholy ground. In order to be released to terrorize mankind, the succubus needs to secure the "ultimate sacrifice".

With grating characters, rancid computer effects, and a goofy plot, it will take a certain kind of horror fans to appreciate this junk. For some reason, obviously because Lee is a zombie fan, he has murdered victims arise through a spell, soulless creatures to do the succubus' bidding, for flesheating purposes(including a scene where it's debated what kind of zombie one of the characters is and how to kill it). Some of the supernatural murder sequences defy specific explanation..the use of turpentine to burn a victim alive, how flesh is removed from a face, and how another victim is "curled" into a box spitting out his guts, are all examples of the bizarre deaths in the movie at the hands of the succubus. I will say that some of the make-up isn't so shabby, particularly the burnt face and a pale ghoul with shark-like teeth. I think the last twenty minutes, where Lee opts for his characters to crack wise despite all hell breaking loose, with their own demise on the horizon, was a bad decision, but he clearly was aiming for tongue-in-cheek(I found the humor groan-inducing, but others might enjoy the comedy).

I just found the response to all their comrade's dying around them, now in a "walking dead" state, to be preposterous. How everything seems like a joke, it's hard to imagine losing your brother or boyfriend and not breaking down or, at the very least, showing anger or sadness. Call me a party pooper, but if those I've known all my life are being annihilated in heinous fashion, I might respond a little differently than tossing out bad quips. For character development, Iggy is a passionately vocal socialist with anti-capitalist rhetoric while Carl's businessman is an over the top caricature representing greed and power at it's worst. Tyler seems to be one of the few to have a good head on his shoulders, which may be why he's the leader of this group of misfits. Heather is the lusty babe who is attracted to assertive men. Brandon is the annoying muscled prick who's actually a pussy when danger rears it's ugly head. Razz is just the usual stoner who likes to ride in the trunk of a car(!) and smoke his dope in peace. As I mentioned already, Esquivel, as the sexy succubus, makes for a strikingly seductive demon. I think a more serious approach could've worked wonders, but the silly antics which evolve over time, I felt, sink this turkey.

Possibly the most non-committal horror film I've ever seen.
Darkweasel21 August 2007
After reading the previous comments, I knew this film was never going to be a classic, it didn't even look good enough to be a b-movie. However, I've always been a sucker for the old "demons run amok in a haunted house" scenario (a la Night of the Demons) so I decided to give it bash. After a fantastic opening scene for breast fans, it started on a very fast decline...

As expected, the script, acting and what passed for storyline were quite dreadful but the worst thing about it was that, quite obviously, the writer/director/teaboy had actually stopped believing in the horror element himself (and you can actually pinpoint the exact moment), gave up and tried to quickly turn it into a "Shaun of the Dead" style zombie comedy. The irony being that one of the worst straight actors in the film (all of them are pretty unlikeable characters) - the anti-establishment rich boy, turned out to have a decent line in comedy acting, both verbally and physically. If the director had noticed this from the start, he could have made an entirely different film. Instead, coupled with some quite amateurish splatter effects, it ended up being possibly the most non-committal horror film I think I've ever seen.

Run...save yourself.........
badmoviessux8 June 2008
Don't buy this movie. Don't rent this movie. Don't borrow this movie. Don't watch this movie for free on television. Just don't watch this movie at all. Period. (But if you did buy it, mark it up and sell it to someone you don't like.)

What's so bad about "The Slaughter"? (1) The "acting". Is it possible to act without moving your lips?...No. But that doesn't stop the "actors". (2) The "horror". (See number 5.) (3) The "comedy". (Clowns are funnier...and clowns really aren't that funny.) (4) The "effects". It is amazing what $2.33 and silicone can't do. (5) The demon/witch women who had silicone boobs in the "ancient times".

You have been warned....

Almost works
Patchbunny17 June 2006
Caught this at the "Another Hole in the Head" festival in San Francisco. The director and cast appeared after the show talked about the film. Jay Lee, the director, stated that he wanted to create a horror/comedy to separate his film from all the other cheap horror films being made. Well, he almost did it.

Unfortunately, much of the humor is poorly timed or is over the top, and for every moment that works there's two or three that fall flat as the director does everything short of standing on screen shouting, "Look! Isn't this funny?" In spite of this I think the film does have potential, and Jay Lee can use this film as lessons learned for his next project. The main weakness was in the writing, but I liked the concept and the camera-work was good. Next time Jay Lee needs to let his script go through another draft review before he shoots.

The Slaughter. . .The Comedy
smilesentertainment27 May 2008
This movie starts out as a potential cult film, then quickly proceeds to take a Kamakazi dive into suck. Every film festival that gave this movie an award should have its license revoked for incompetence. The "acting", and I used the term "acting" sarcastically, will give you a headache. A porno has better acting...and better lighting, and better story. The actors had absolutely no chemistry and were too clueless to know when they were suppose to be scared. The director/writer was probably too busy dreaming up fx gimics that haven't been used since the invention of sound. A note to any "filmmakers", if you don't have the budget to make a real horror movie, then at least do yourself a favor and make it a horror comedy. That way people can at least get a laugh out of the campy entertainment value. My roommates made me do laundry and dishes for a week, and I'm officially banned from bringing home anymore horror flicks.

Campy Fun
lovecraftundead22 June 2006
If you take your horror films seriously then this film may not be for you. However, if boobs, blood and good looking college kids getting slaughtered is your idea of a good time then the 95 minutes is well worth it. I like the fact that the deaths, and therefore the zombies, aren't your average run of the mill types. The deaths are clever and pulled off well despite the obviously low budget. The acting is far above average for this kind of fare, which is surprising given the attractiveness of the cast. Writer/Director, Jay Lee, has obviously done his zombie homework and stays true to die hard fans while poking fun at us at the same time. It is a bit repetitious with its joke, boob, blood, joke, boob, blood, but hey, who's complaining!

You people think you're Stephen King
tricx14 September 2007
I thought this movie was great, for a low budget, horror comedy, stroll in the haunted house.

Take every B-movie you have ever seen that tried to be "deadly" serious and only ended up being comical, roll them all together and then add a bit of sarcasm.

Seriously, if you can make it through the opening credits with a sense of humor (which is nothing but female nudity) ((which I thought was a hilarious jab at not only horror movies, but also the kids who watch them for the T&A)) then you can enjoy this movie.

If you're looking for a poignant, life altering flick, I would suggest "The Notebook".

But, if you just want a good time and a good laugh I recommend this.

Terrible, awful, boring, did I say terrible?
spawnvsjoe26 August 2007
This movie was exactly what I thought it would be. Another run of the mill B-Horror movie (and saying that it B is being quite polite). The movie had nothing to offer, I can't say there was anything good to be said for it. The effects were worse than some horror movies I saw in the eighties, which begs me to ask what the budget was. It was terrible at being comical, terrible at being horrific, although it was horrifically comical for being so poorly done, does that make it worth watching? No. Simply put, do NOT waste your time watching this. If you enjoy the occasional B movie like I do, I recommend not watching this one. It is that terrible.

Dreck
bruddarb20 July 2006
I went into this with high hopes, and came out shocked at how hackneyed and lame this movie felt. Mr. Lee has tried to pass off a humorless and derivative piece of zombie schlock as ultra-hip satirical horror-comedy, and the resulting mess is a series of sight gags and boredom. The FX may be decent, but the unimaginative direction and writing illuminates a heavy dependence on latex and fake blood. I was told the acting was excellent, and while I think that's a bit generous, for the most part the performances were good, and some were very good indeed. I have to give the actors credit, because the dialog was laughable (and not intentionally) more often than not, yet they managed to deliver their lines with a surprising degree of sincerity, so at least the director is capable of working with his players, or just knows how to cast appropriately. But in the end, the movie just becomes tiresome.

Definitely NOT an "Evil Dead" for the new generation, nor any generation.

Awfully, awfully bad
spidermanofcs11 December 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is really something a group of 12 yr olds would film. Being a lover of horror movies, this movie actually shows me the meaning of "horrible". The acting is bad, the plot is worse.

Everything is fine up to the part where the four people died of the four elements, Water, Fire, Air and Earth. None of these have any sense in them.

Water - Heather only died when she was pulled under water the second time. How ridiculous is this? The demon is an ancient demon, bend on taking over the world with her evil sorcery powers, would she give anyone a second chance? Worse of all, on the second time when Heather was pulled in, she showed absolutely no emotions as the demon tugged at her leg. Amateur acting.

Fire - If you people can remember, Tyler actually saw all the fuel rising to the roof of the basement. Anybody would have ran or back off after a few second, and what did he do? Continue staring till he got burnt. Really disgusting acting.

Air - Brandon actually did better with his fear when he saw the demon, but its the plot that kills. Who would climb up a chute when a demon is screaming in front of you? The plot for this is terrible.

Earth - While this guy is smoking his weed, he saw the demon and thought it was hallucination. That was OK until the demon disappeared into the ground. And he did what most movie does, looked real closed at the hole. When he stood up and got pulled by the hand, a close look reveals that he did not even struggle. He just try to shake the demon off. Its a demon for God Sake! Not a dog biting on his pants!

They tried to pull off a Shaun Of The Dead comedy while tackling with the zombie of Carl. They can never succeed in that with their mediocre acting! If the actors and actresses are better ones, this scene would have been the highlight. This is one of the scenes that killed the movie.

Lastly,Dana in the final "spell" room scene is extremely bad. How can one negotiate with a demon, while her friend(Iggy) is struggling to keep all the zombies out?! This is the plot's matter again, and if a good horror movie director have seen the script with this scene, he would have torn the papers to shreds.

This movie would have gotten a single star from me if not for Iggy's explanation about the demon and its origin. A detailed explanation is needed for a movie on ancient demons and ghouls, and Iggy pulled it off. Other than that, this movie is simply not up to the standard.

Don't waste your time on this movie
lexs_luv_bunny3 November 2007
Warning: Spoilers
From the beginning of the film, I knew that I wasn't going to enjoy this meagre attempt at horror. Filled with over the top scripting and unbelievably cringe-worthy special effects, the film was hard to watch, but being a Friday night with nothing else on television I decided to give it a go and to see whether it was any better further on through the film. IT wasn't! The acting was terrible, there wasn't one person who I recognised, but this would have been okay if they had have been convincing as their characters. I wasn't bothered when they were picked off one by one, I spent the 'scary' scenes noting what was wrong with it.....'certainly one stone a few planks of wood wouldn't strip the skin off his face'......'that girl drowned quite quickly' and 'why would that guy spit up his intestines' There was no consistency....and no major love for the plot. Luckily this film was watched online so I didn't waste any money on this heap of tripe.

The Most Awful movie i have seen so far

The Most Awful movie i have seen so far!!!!!!!!!

There i Said it.............

The way the movie started, i thought i will be a nice old school reminiscent horror flick which will send chills down the spine, but on the halfway mark the director and the writer smoked so much weed that they transformed it into a cheesy zombie flick. If there was a way i would give it negative rating.

Shame on the director and the whole crew, and shame on me for putting up with this utter nonsense.

just because it encompasses my family doesn't mean anything
lee_eisenberg13 May 2008
Usually I like a slasher movie, but "The Slaughter" was just plain disgusting. The typical hackneyed story of a bunch of twenty-somethings going to an abandoned house and awakening an evil spirit, they leave nothing to the imagination; some of this stuff doesn't even need to get imagined, let alone depicted.

As it so happens, some of the names encompass my family's names. The director is Jay Lee (my name is Lee, my father's name is Jay), and one of the characters is named Dina (my mother's name). But the movie is too gross for me to consider even that aspect cool. This is one movie that I truly do NOT recommend. FearNet has shown some neat horror flicks ("Down" and "Blood Diner", for example), but they didn't need to show this one. Adriana Esquivel was pretty hot, though.

Jay Lee is a director who knows what he likes, and what he likes is tits and zombies.
BA_Harrison14 February 2009
Practise makes perfect, or so they say.

Two years before combining tits and zombies for his enjoyably silly comedy/horror Zombie Strippers, director Jay Lee practised his technique on straight-to-DVD splatter-fest The Slaughter. With basic plot elements borrowed from The Evil Dead and Night of the Demons, Lee's first attempt at trashy T&A terror isn't exactly original, and suffers badly from budgetary limitations that result in iffy CGI, terrible sound (on my DVD, at least), cheap editing effects and generally poor production values. Fortunately, the graphic gore and gratuitous nudity go a long way to help matters, making this a fairly entertaining ride despite its technical flaws.

The film starts with a trashy credits sequence featuring several topless hotties getting drenched with blood as they perform a ceremony to summon a she-demon, which they intend to control for their own nefarious uses. Of course their plans go tits-up, they wind up dead, and the demon, trapped between dimensions, opts to lay dormant until she is able to put into motion the wheels that will enable her to break free and finally rule our world (or something like that!).

This opportunity arises 60 years later, when a house is built upon the land where the demon lurks: the evil being is able to commence the ritual that will release her from her inter-dimensional prison by killing a child. However, this action results in the house being unoccupied for decades, and the creature is unable to continue—at least, that is, until a money-hungry businessman purchases the property for redevelopment. He hires a team of students to clean up the place before putting it back on the market, and once again provides the monster with everything she needs to complete her plan...ie., good-looking victims with high sex-drives!

After the impressively sleazy opening, I found The Slaughter to be incredibly dull for at least half an hour, and even contemplated switching the film off; I am, however, made of sterner stuff than that, and soldiered on to the end. And I'm glad I did, for things eventually get a lot better: the gore gets gorier, the nudity gets more 'nudie', and there's even a good jump-scare or two to keep viewers on their toes.

Fans of splatter, in particular, are advised to continue watching (either that, or fast-forward!): eventually, we are treated to some great (and some not-so-great) effects, including a nasty broken leg, some gut-puking, face removal via flying brick, a squished head, throat slashing, decapitation, and dismemberment. Some of these moments are admittedly achieved through the use of some pretty dire digital trickery, but on the whole, it's impressive stuff.

The film's fun finalé sees the demon's victims rising from the dead to try and kill the remaining two survivors, a set-up which allows for some amusing banter about how to despatch a zombie, and even more mindless violence.

Not quite as good as Zombie Strippers, but an admirable effort nonetheless, The Slaughter is recommended to those who like their movies cheap, bloody and loaded with—yes, you guessed it—tits and zombies!

has moments of brilliance and mediocrity
pmcguireumc26 August 2010
Don't plan on Citizen Kane. It really is a blend of Shaun of Dead and Evil Dead. The advantage is - it has awesome nudity - if that's your thing. From about 10 minutes in to 50, its pretty bad, but the opening and the final are great. well worth a viewing. If you're not expecting a lot of quality throughout - you will not be disappointed. Like i said, the last 15-20 minutes are really funny though. There's a great debate about the old school zombies versus new zombies that i thought was very Scream like and funny. Also a wonderful dialogue about 1:20 between the brother and sister that is reminiscent Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson.

The best comedy take on horror since Shaun of the Dead!
joe-133817 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
When I first held this in my hands, I figured it would be yet another run of the mill, cheaply made zombie horrors, where the biggest sign of horror was in the acting.

I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, it does seem to be like any other indie horror when you start to watch, but the pure genius takes place when the zombies appear.

Every question you ever asked yourself when watching somebody 'run' from zombies is answered and it is done in a magically comedic way.

The ending is also good and not expected, but I won't tell you what it is, you have to watch it to find out.

Get this DVD and watch it, it is OK on your own, but best watched with friends (or enemies if they don't like horror).

Enjoyed this flick a lot
JinxPat20 November 2006
I thoroughly dug The Slaughter. It racks up the clichés, sure enough, but twists each one enough before throwing them the audience's way that anyone settled comfortably in their seat is pretty much guaranteed a good time. We've seen all of the archetypes on display a thousand times before, but they've rarely been presented quite this entertainingly. A comedy stoner who is actually funny! A female lead who's actually interesting! It ping-pongs around a bit in terms of tone; very rarely approaching 'serious' but varying wildly in terms of just how silly it wants to get. A spot of superbly gratuitous nudity, some crackling dialogue and a lot of appealing performances. What more do you want, eh? Blood? Luckily you get buckets of that too.

waste of my last money
jenbalotar17 June 2011
I bet my money for this because i thought this will be a very bloody brilliant film but i was wrong. Now my last budget for buying films was wasted. the only good thing about this is the monstrous make-up. That's the only thing i liked in this movie. The rest... the actors are like beginners, nothing scary, the graphics are obviously fake... very unrealistic. This will go to the worst movies i bought. This made me feel sleepy too. So just watched it fast-forward x2. But a good start for a starting directors and actors in the film industry. Lots of improvements needed, can be done if you have a high budget. Not even a bit scary except the make up, that's a little scary. Awkward acting is present too.

Weak first half but improves
Stevieboy66629 September 2017
Six stereo typical students (stoner, jock, nerd, slut & token black guy) are hired by a sleazy business man to renovate a dilapidated old house. Along the way an Evil Dead type book of incantations is discovered, with predictable results. The opening scene features a group of hot, naked witches performing a bloody, occult ritual. It does slow right down after that for the next half hour or so, but once the cast start getting killed in elaborate & gory ways the film picks up nicely. It also turns into a comedy, with mixed results. It is a very cheap looking movie, with wooden acting & at times poor sound, but despite an unfavourable first half (it was heading for a 3/10 score) it quickly became quite entertaining.

Terrible

I don't half buy some crap movies at times. I always fall for it, the blurb on the DVD cover which always make films sound terrific. 'The Slaughter' is my latest mistake as this is one VERY bad movie. Where to start? The acting is mostly dreadful, the special effects are very poor and the story doesn't work.

This is a script which tries to add humour at times and it fails miserably and I do mean miserably. OK, some of the make up isn't too bad I suppose but overall this is a low budget horror with a low budget feel about it. If, like me, you find this in a charity shop and think that it sounds promising DO NOT BUY IT even for next to nothing.
