An enjoyable short that sounds good and looks good
A woman lies alone in bed but suddenly imagines she feels the gentle touch of her partner. This takes the film from her bedroom to the corner of an empty floor in an Montreal office block where the woman (still in her nightie) is with her fireman boyfriend. They dance, they are sensual and they seem to fight. I'm not totally able to explain what all the movements are about but I did get the impression that the film was looking at the connection between two people that goes beyond the words and time they share together. As a narrative, it isn't great but it has enough about it to provide a frame for the dancing to occur.
The dancing itself is pretty good. It looks like a touch of ballet mixed in with a big dollop of contemporary movements such as popping etc. It isn't the most beautiful series of motions you'll see but it still looked good and was technically impressive as well. Adam's direction appears to be simple enough but he still moves the camera around well and the choice and use of the location is strong and helps the film. Meanwhile the music from Santos has good rhythm to it even if some of the sounds were not to my taste. Overall an enjoyable little dance piece; some of the message was lost on me I'm sure but the dancers are talented, the choreography is cool and the film looks good.
