A successful self-help L.A. talk show host (Martin Lawrence) is been invited to his parents (James Earl Jones and Margaret Avery) 50th anniversary of marriage. But he hasn't seen his parents or his family members for years. He brings his 15 minute of fame soon to be wife (Joy Bryant) and his son (Daman Roberts) to the deep south in Georgia for a family get-together. But he didn't realized that his competitively obsessed cousin (Cerdic the Entertainer) and his long-time crush (Nicole Ari Parker) would be there for the 50th anniversary as well.
Written and Directed by Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man) made an entertaining comedy that manages to be quite funny and quite silly as well. Some of the cast members (Including Michael Clarke Duncan, Mike Epps and Mo'nique) seems to be having an great time. Although the movie does go far too long towards the end. But it manages to be still watchable and there's one unforgettable funny gag that involves two dogs. Fans of the stars will enjoy this one best. (*** 1/2 out of *****).
