Dinner for Schmucks
Opens: July 23rd 2010
Cast: Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis, Bruce Greenwood, David Walliams
Director: Jay Roach
Summary: A renowned publisher encourages his friends to invite the most pathetic guests possible for their weekly dinner party. Just as they find the most pathetic man yet, the host is injured and ends up trapped with the man all night long.
Analysis: A remake of director Francis Veber's 1998 César award-winning "Le Diner des cons", 'Schmucks' is one of the highest profile comedies of next year with one of the strongest casts for the genre in recent memory. It also marks the return of "Austin Powers" and "Meet the Parents" helmer Jay Roach who has produced several films in recent years but hasn't directed since 2004's "Meet the Fockers".
The question now lies not in the performers or director but the material itself and whether a Gallic comedy can

Scarlett Johansson Had 'Freakout Moment' With Black Widow Costume

Scarlett Johansson has admitted that she freaked out when she first saw how the costume of Black Widow, the character she has portrayed in "Iron Man 2", was going to be alike. "I did have a bit of a freakout moment," the actress stated during the movie panel at 2009 San Diego Comic Con. She added, "It was more seeing it. The costume took a while to build it obviously, but I saw some of the sketches."
However, Scarlett didn't let her first impression of the Black Widow costume control her professional attachment to the movie. "I knew what to expect because I had seen some of the later incarnations of the character. I knew that it was going to be some sort of catsuit of some kind," she stated, before claiming "So I had a freakout moment, but that only lasted about half a day, and I said 'Suck it up.

Getting to Know... Laura Izibor

She’s only 21, but it took Dublin diva Laura Izibor a full five years to perfect Let The Truth Be Told, her steamy Celtic-soul debut. At 15, she casually entered a sultry number in Ireland’s prestigious Rte 2fm Song Contest, and was dumbfounded when she won; by 16, she’d signed a publishing deal and began to work in earnest on her album. It finally hit stores this summer via Atlantic Records, but not before Izibor landed tracks on the soundtracks of TV shows like The Hills and Grey's Anatomy, and films including The Nanny Diaries and Step Up 2: The Streets. Now, as her first single "Don’t Stay" begins its chart climb, Izibor comes off as a seasoned pro much older and wiser than her years. She recently spoke with Paste about the delicate arts of songwriting and basketball.

"Adventureland" is around the corner. The Greg Mottola directed and written film finds theatres on April 3rd. Mottola is responsible for "Superbad," one of the funniest films in recent times. A talented cast works their magic in "Adventureland" including Jesse Eisenberg of "The Hunting Party," "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart, Ryan Reynolds ("Smokin' Aces"), Kristen Wiig ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall") and Bill Hader who also notched up laughs in "Superbad" alongside Seth Rogen.
For the sake of interest, we've briefly compiled a list of amusement park scenes from films we found most memorable. These can be found after you read what "Adventureland" is all about.
What's "Adventureland" about?
It's the summer of 1987, and James Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg), an uptight recent college grad, can't wait to embark on his dream tour of Europe. But when his parents (Wendie Malick and Jack Gilpin) announce they can no longer subsidize his trip, James has little

Julia Roberts has yet to be surpassed.
Back in September of last year I asked Who's the Next Big Male Movie Star? At the time Robert Pattinson Fever had spread all over the Internet and the conversation resulted in a wasted experiment as commenters weren't able to have a real debate. However, a few people did ask for a similar feature for the females and I have finally gotten around to putting it together. With the males the name I was looking at in comparison was Will "Guaranteed Box-Office Gold" Smith. With the females I was unable to come up with a name that lives up to the career Julia Roberts put together and she remained my muse.
When Pretty Woman came out in 1990 Julia was 22-years-old and had just starred in and won a Golden Globe for Steel Magnolias. Over the following nine years she worked her way into

It's the summer of 1987, and James Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg), an uptight recent college grad, can't wait to embark on his dream tour of Europe. But when his parents (Wendie Malick and Jack Gilpin) announce they can no longer subsidize his trip, James has little choice but to take a lowly job at a local amusement park. Forget about German beer, world-famous museums and cute French girls-James' summer will now be populated by belligerent dads, stuffed pandas, and screaming kids high on cotton candy. Lucky for James, what should have been his worst summer ever turns into quite an adventure as he discovers love in the most unlikely place with his captivating co-worker Em (Kristen Stewart), and learns to loosen up.
The film stars Jesse Eisenberg ("The Squid and the Whale"), Kristen Stewart ("Twilight, "Into the Wild"), Ryan Reynolds ("Just Friends," "Van Wilder"), Martin Starr ("Knocked Up," "Superbad"), and "Saturday Night Live

With release date confirmed for March 27 (wide) this year, we are pleased to give you some new clips from Miramax Films' "Adventureland" at this year's Sundance Film Festival!
The comedy stars Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Ryan Reynolds, Martin Starr, Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader. Greg Mottola, director of the uproariously funny "Superbad," directs from his own screenplay.
Stewart is fresh off the success of "Twilight" and should command a strong audience pull just from that. Multi-talented Eisenberg's last film was 2007's "The Hunting Party" alongside Terrence Howard and Richard Gere.

Kevin Kline, Paul Dano, Katie Holmes and John C. Reilly have signed on to star in Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini's new comedy "The Extra Man."
Variety describes the plot as follows:
"Kline plays a failed playwright who works as an escort for rich widows on the Upper East Side. He develops a mentor-student relationship with a troubled aspiring playwright (Dano)."
The film is based on the novel by Jonathan Ames, who wrote the screenplay with Springer Berman and Pulcini. The duo's directing credits include "The Nanny Diaries" and the superb "American Splendor."
Kline is just the right guy to play a failed playwright. The actor was last seen in "Definitely, Maybe." As for Dano, he most recently delivered a superb performance in "There Will Be Blood."
Holmes' last film was the crappy "Mad Money," while Reilly was last seen in the mildly funny comedy "Step Brothers."

Unless they end up really disappointing me or ruining some property I love, I'm going to root for Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini because I was such a fan of what they did with "American Splendor". You can argue amongst yourselves about what's the greatest superhero movie—"American Splendor" is the best comic book movie to date. Sadly, the duo tripped up a bit with "The Nanny Diaries" but hopefully they'll regain their footing with their next project, "The Extra Man". The story centers on a failed playwright (Kevin Kline) who works as an escort for rich widows on the Upper East Side. He develops a mentor-student relationship with a troubled aspiring playwright (Paul Dano). Katie Holmes and John C. Reilly also star so already, you've got three terrific performers (hint: the bad one is married to Tom Cruise). If there is

The wife of actor Tom Cruise will be joining Kevin Kline who is tapped to take on the lead character, Paul Dano and John C. Reilly in the movie to be directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. So far, it is still unclear what character the Rachel Dawes of "Batman Begins" will be portraying.

Robert Pulcini and Shari Springer Berman, the directors of American Splendor, are set to adapt another blackly comic book, The Extra Man, and they've lined up a quality cast to do it.The story, by Jonathan Ames, focuses on Louis, a young would-be playwright with a penchant for crossdressing, to be played by Paul Dano. He moves in with Henry Harrison, himself a failed playwright now ekeing out a living as an "extra man", an escort to rich women on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The pair develop a mentor/student relationship, but Louis remains afraid to tell the gentlemanly Henry about his merely "straight-ish" lifestyle.John C. Reilly and Katie Holmes have also signed on to star, with the film due to start shooting in New York in February. Pulcini and Berman wrote the script with Ames, so let's hope it turns out more American Splendor and less like their last film, The Nanny Diaries.
