You probably saw this show in the 1980's, it is where the character Delbert Wilkins appeared, and it is a great sketch show, with stand up, just as In Pieces was from the great comedian. Lenny Henry basically every Friday brought us the mixture of stand up with jokes involving recent news, and his observational comedy in between. The rest of the show involved sketches involving his great characters, including my favourite Lister the shopkeeper, Ronson the lisping poetry writing prisoner, Mr. Blackwell the retired old man ("Shoot Me Now"), DCI Dagger in a spoof of CSI, a newsroom spoof anchor with Green Wing's Tamsin Greig in Sound Bite News Digest, and of course, his recreations of popular songs by mostly black artists, including Boney M, MC Hammer, Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z, OutKast, Sugababes (Keisha Buchanan) and The Streets (one non-black exception). Other actors have been in the show playing characters, including Gina Yashere as the popular Tanya the Ragga Girl, and the pushy Mrs. Omokorede obsessed with her daughter being a doctor, Ninia Benjamin as Funkazi the unsympathetic African midwife, Jocelyn Jee (who has since had her own sketch show) as the radio DJ of Call Me FM, and Tony Gardner (from In Pieces) as an annoying Save Aid charity rep. Guest on the show included Hugh Laurie, Meera Syal, Shane Richie, Alison Steadman, Harry Enfield and Bob Hoskins. Lenny Henry was number 9 on Britain's Favourite Comedian, and he was number 51 on 100 Greatest Stand-Ups. Very good!
