Very funny movie without the Stella style, 24 September 2006
9/10
Author: carapatricia from United States

I saw a screener of this movie in New York when it was listed as "Untitled Michael Ian Black Comedy." The first scene, when I saw Jason Biggs wearing cupid wings and hot pants, i thought to myself, "oh god, another American pie piece of crap." But I was fortunately wrong, and this was a great, original comedy. Tons of twists and just spectacular situations that couldn't work with other directors.

The ensemble cast is excellent-- Ebon Moss Bacharach as Matador, the lovable but slightly frightening circus-freak wannabe steals many of the scenes, just as he does in "Champions", Joe Pantoliano's role as a Buddhist prison inmate and father of the bride is hilarious, and Rob Cordry's cameo as a gay cop is just fantastic.

The last time I laughed so much at a movie was "Little Miss Sunshine," which is a film this should be compared to instead of romantic "comedies" like 'Along came Polly' or '40 days and 40 nights' like the screener description suggested.

This is a hilarious and well written piece from Michael Ian Black, and although I love it, it doesn't use the 'Stella'-like tricks of humor. They could change the title, but otherwise it is completely original and great. A must see.
