• Continuity: At the start of the movie, when Gideon moves around to create false trails (after falling in the river), his fire is/is not burning as he passes it (and is burning when Carver and his men arrive).
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: During the scenes in the railroad camp, numerous extras are seen flailing away at the new railroad tracks with spike hammers, despite no one actually installing any spikes. In one particularly obvious scene, two teams of laborers drop two rails on the roadbed side by side, then immediately start hammering randomly on them, without anyone actually placing any spikes, or even bothering to gauge the distance between the rails.
  
  
• Continuity: During the scene where the colonel chases the bank robbers, the weather shifts from overcast to clear blue skies.
  
  

• Revealing mistakes: Several scenes show con trails in the sky.
  
  
• Continuity: When Gideon rides past the wagon train of (possibly) Mormons, the sunlight in his closeups is coming from a different direction than the shots of the immigrants. This is especially noticeable when the woman calls out, "God sees your sin!"
