“Fast & Furious” burns rubber in first spot. Universal Pictures’ well-marketed “Fast & Furious” actioner has posted the highest opening weekend gross of the year with an estimated $72.5 million pocketed. Reteaming Paul Walker and Vin Diesel as well Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster, the film launched into 3,461 theatres and averaged $20,948 per venue. The film grossed over $30 million more than “Anger Management,” the previous best April opener of all time which debuted back on April 11th, 2003. A most impressive opening for the Justin Lin helmed film which is tracking well with user ratings thus far; according to IMDb, the film is at this point 7.3/10 from over 1,550 votes cast. Along with the rest of the original crew, Paul Walker is back in the driver.s seat for Fast And Furious. This is the continuation that feels more like a sequel than the past two films. And Paul is back as Brian O.Conner, a cop with a heart of gold.
