It should not be surprising that a famous Hollywood star is the face of a luxury brand. They seem to have their face on everything these days, from watches to designer clothing and even European cars. But when quintessential champagne house, Möet & Chandon, for the first time in champagne marketing history elects to use a famous actress to be their ambassador, and that celebrity happens to be Scarlett Johansson, it is a beautiful amalgamation befitting the hype. Since her springboard to worldwide fame with Sofia Coppola's Lost In Translation, Johansson has been delighting audiences with a range of roles encompassing gritty dramas, period features and mainstream romantic comedies (A Love Song For Bobby Long, The Other Boleyn Girl, He's Just Not That Into You), and in recent times has been the muse of Woody Allen (Match Point, Scoop, Vicky Cristina Barcelona). »

Variety has confirmed a casting rumor report from last month for David Fincher big screen adaptation of The Social Network. Jesse Eisenberg has signed to play Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg (how perfect is that casting?), Andrew Garfield is set to play Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, and Justin Timberlake will play internet entrepreneur Sean Parker (Napster). Production will begin next month in Boston and later move to Los Angeles. As I have said previously, this is shaping up to be a very solid cast. If you kn ow anything about these characters, I think you'd agree. I don't normally like Timberlake, but anyone who knows the story for the film or has read the book will know he's the perfect person to play Parker. Garfield broke onto the scene with a Award-winning performance in Boy A, and has since appeared in Lions for Lambs, The Other Boleyn Girl, Red Riding, and »

Readers love fantasy. Fantasy or fantasy-esque genre fiction makes up more than thirty percent of this week's New York Times Best Sellers list of hardcover fiction.
The straight fantasy novels include: the new young adult novel The Magicians by Lev Grossman (at #16) ; the latest Landover novel, A Princess of Landover, by Terry Brooks (at #15); and the fifth installment in the Fever series, Dreamfever, by Karen Marie Morning (at #3).
Meanwhile, Abyss, a Star Wars novel, also lands on the list (at # 7), and The Other Boleyn Girl author Philippa Gregory's The White Queen, which isn't fantasy, but involves palace intrigue, made the list (at #2). The New York Times Best Sellers list, the nation's most well-known and most influential list of bestselling fiction, normally includes 15 novels, but includes 16 this week due to a tie. The newspaper's list of the week's bestselling mass-market paperbacks has not yet been made available, but last week, »

Dave from Victim of the Time here, wondering why Eric Bana isn't a legitimate movie-star yet. I don't like to be an undue influence, but if I were in charge of Nat's Film Bitch awards for this year, Eric would be the current front-runner for the 'Body of Work' award. You'll all remember Star Trek, of course, where Bana played the main villain, the Romulan Nero, and put a lot of energy and zest into a role that wasn't given as much attention as it probably should have been. Since then, he's recently had two more roles that amply show off both his acting chops - in strikingly different ways - and his almost limitless charisma. (He also starred in the Australian film Romulus, My Father, but who knows when that'll reach my eyes...) In a coincidental move that surely inspired this post, I happened to see both of these »

In a classic case of back-and-forth, speculation about the female lead for Kenneth Branagh’s Thor has been less than straightforward. It was back in March that Natalie Portman (The Other Boleyn Girl, V for Vendetta) was first said to be in the running for the (at the time) mystery female lead in the Marvel Studios production.
Since then however, Jessica Biel was rumoured by Nuke The Fridge to be the chosen one for the Marvel movie. But in a twist that everyone saw coming, it seems that the Biel rumour was not as accurate as some would have had you believe.
THR today confirmed that Natalie Portman has been cast as the female lead in Thor, Portman will star as Jane Foster, Nurse, mere mortal and love interest for the Asguardian God of Thunder. According to THR:
