Sex & Nudity

Men struggle with women, tearing off their clothing (we see backs and shoulders, but bare breasts are not clearly visible) and it is not shown but it is implied that the men are raping the women; it is also not shown, but it is implied that a man rapes a young boy (the boy's head is caressed by a man and he enters a room and the door is shut). A man explains that other men intend to rape and behead a woman. Women in tube tops or low-cut shirts are forced to dance while men, many of them drunk, watch and holler at them (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details). A man slaps a woman on the behind. A man looks through a window and sees bare buttocks (it is unclear whether they belong to a male or a female). We see many shirtless men.

Violence & Gore

The film originally received an NC-17 rating for "extreme violence". Sylvestor Stallone argued the rating down to a hard R for "strong graphic bloody violence, sexual assualts, grisly images, and language" without taking anything out of the movie. Here are some examples of the violence:

Actual documentary footage used depicting maimed and dead civilians in the Burmese Civil War. A severed head is shown being buried in a mass grave.

A prisoner runs across a landmine, resulting in a large, bloody explosion. Soldiers gun down the remaining prisoners.

During a village raid, several unarmed villagers are gunned down; one is executed spilling a large amount of blood.

A Child also gets thrown into a burning building, and another child gets bayoneted by a soldier.

Rambo kills several river pirates; one is shot multiple times in the head at close range. Later he walks through their remains, pouring gasoline over them and igniting it. Several amputees are shown being given medical care.

A village is attacked resulting in several scenes of villagers being blown apart and dismembered by mortar fire in extremely graphic detail. Children are shown being bayoneted and are executed at close range. A man has his arms and legs cut of with a machete A small child is taken from its mother and thrown into a burning building. Dozens of villagers are gunned down by a truck mounted machine gun.

During a flashback, Rambo is shown killing a few soldiers in black and white.

Many rotting corpses are shown with flies buzzing around them. Severed heads and hanging bodies are also present. Using a bow and arrow, Rambo kills several soldiers. Close-ups show arrows penetrating soldier's heads and bodies. One is knocked onto a landmine and blown apart.

A man is stabbed with a knife A prisoner is shown having the bloody stumps of his legs being eaten by a boar. A man is stabbed in the throat and side repeatedly; his wounds gush blood. Several soldiers are shot with a sniper rifle; one has part of his head blown off. Rambo slowly and very graphically tears a mans throat out.

A soldier has his leg mangled in an explosion, and shrapnel is graphically dug out of the wound. Later, he is tortured by having it prodded with a stick. A massive bomb is detonated, killing a large group of soldiers and their tracking dogs. Several civilians are beaten bloody with a stick. Rambo cuts off a soldiers head with a machete. A large caliber machine gun is used point-blank on a soldier, completely disintegrating his torso. Dozens upon dozens of soldiers are violently killed by gunfire, having various limbs shot off. Several soldiers are blown apart by grenades and mortar rounds. A flamethrower sets a man on fire. A .50 caliber sniper rifle graphically explodes a mans head. Rambo disembowels a soldier with a machete.

Profanity

About 20 uses of the F-word, mainly by a group of mercenaries. A few of the other harsher swear words are used occasionally.

A few scenes feature smoking and drinking. Drugs are briefly mentioned.

This film shows men (very dangerous and careless men might I add) TOYING with POISENOUS and DEADLY snakes, like it is some sport or game.
