We've said it before and we'll say it again: we couldn't be more pumped for Sylvester Stallone's all-star action extravaganza, The Expendables. If you've been tracking this pecs-pumping, pyrotechnics-palooza with us, then you're already hip to the summer 2010 film's hulking, Who's Who he-man cast (Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, etc.). You've also seen the early photos of a tattooed and totally ripped Stallone and heard that Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger would drop by for cameo appearances, pretty much cementing the film as a one-stop shopping site for '80s blow-'em-up blockbuster lovers. »

The legendary action star tells all about Sylvester Stallone's magnum opus
Dolph Lundgren is one of the many "tough guy" icons that is set to appear in Sylvester Stallone's upcoming action extravaganza The Expendables. Next week, he has his own film coming out that he wrote and directed called Command Performance. And boy, is it a doozey! True fans of the action genre won't want to miss this story of a rock and roll drummer named Joe who battles terrorists at a Russian pop venue. It is one of the funnest movies of 2009, and a blast of fresh air for those tired of the many wimpy actors currently ruling our Cineplex scene. We recently caught up with Dolph on the streets of Los Angeles to chat with him about his latest project. You can read all about Command Performance in our DVD section. The action star directs this one-of-a-kind rock and roll hostage thriller
Dolph Lundgren has directed, maybe not the best film of the year, but certainly one of the coolest, strangest, funniest fuck-em-up hostage thrillers seen in (at least) the last five years. Not one to take himself or his image too seriously, Command Performance is a tour de force that proves the legendary muscle man (who first made his appearance known in Rocky IV as Russian boxer Ivan Drago) still has what it takes to decimate a room full of heavily armed bad guys. Its no lie when I say Command Performance is hands down the most fun you'll have with any action movie being released this year. It earns 2009's Mega-Awesome Achievement Award simply for having the balls to pull off many scenes like the one below:

For a week, rumors have circulated that Sylvester Stallone was planning on making Rocky 7 after an interview with Tele 5 in Germany was quoted by Teensay.co.uk.
I know I'll probably make a fool of myself if I make another Rocky film after turning 60. I also know there's gonna be a lot of criticism. Even my wife says, "Don't do it. You're embarrassing the kids." But I told her, "If I don't try I'll be a really unhappy man." You have to do it. Artists like me have to go through the dark over and over again.
Apparently, Stallone was talking about his mindset before making Rocky Balboa, otherwise known as Rocky 6, and not about another Rocky movie. European readers over at Chud corrected the Internet mistranslation. Some Stallone-rs may be disappointed with the news, but don't worry. Sly is definitely continuing his legacy with Rambo 5.

More bad news. Lately it seems to be all I bring. Sylvester Stallone is planning to bring back his ever popular boxer Rocky Balboa for a seventh round in the ring. Yes, that's right, a Rocky VII is being planned. Why? I don't know, but Stallone claims that he has to do it, which is a shame, since Rocky Balboa was such a perfect ending for the character. The movie, if greenlit (and I see no reason why it shouldn't be, seeing as Rocky Balboa was a huge success, bringing in $155 million on a $24 million budget), will probably start shooting late 2010 or early 2011, depending on when Stallone is finished filming Rambo 5, another unnecessary sequel of his. "I know I'll probably make a fool of myself if I make another 'Rocky' film after turning 60. I also know there's gonna be a lot of criticism. Even my wife says, 'Don't do it. »

Yesterday, Sylvester Stallone filmed a scene with Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger for his upcoming August release The Expendables. Finally, the three biggest action heroes of our time are going to be on camera. Plus that Planet Hollywood reunion we’ve all been waiting for.
The announcement came from set blogger Ethelmae: “While I can’t/don’t want to give too much away I can tell you that Arnold’s character is Trench and Bruce is Church, the scene was shot in an empty church without extras and minimal set dec[oration] and it has tension and humor.”
Stallone plays Barney Ross, a leader of a group of “expendable” mercenaries sent into South America to overthrow a dictator. The rest of the team consists of Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Ufc fighter Randy Couture, and Eric Roberts. The only action stars missing from this are Van Damme, »

According to Teen Say, Sylvester Stallone is planning on getting back in the ring with Rocky 7 once he finishes making Rambo V: A Savage Hunt.
The actor had this to say about the prospects of another Rocky film:
"I know I'll probably make a fool of myself if I make another 'Rocky' film after turning 60. I also know there's gonna be a lot of criticism. Even my wife says, 'Don't do it. You're embarrassing the kids'. But I told her, 'If I don't try I'll be a really unhappy man.'
Despite all this, Stallone seems to have a lighthearted mindset about Rocky 7:
"I know it's ludicrous and everyone would laugh. I would laugh about it. But I also know that I'd be successful if I can make this a film about becoming older, not about boxing but about myself."

I’m a huge fan of the Rocky movies. I have been since 3rd grade when I was home sick for a week and my dad decided to rent all five of the movies for me.
My personal favorite in the series is Rocky IV, in which Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky fights Dolph Lundgren’s intimidatingly droid-esque Communist. Seriously, it’s epic. Classic underdog story, coupled with an excellent montage bit.
Rocky V was an unfortunate follow-up to the fourth film, which Stallone himself even once rated 0 out of 10 in an interview.
Luckily, Stallone decided to add a sixth film to the franchise with Rocky Balboa which, while not amazing, was pretty decent and managed to redeem the series after Rocky V.
Now Stallone is ready to take Rocky Balboa back to the ring. After Stallone wraps up with Rambo 5 and The Expendables, he’s planning on tackling Rocky VII. »

Despite some rumblings here and there, here’s a little piece of news that I didn’t see actually becoming a reality. We already know Sylvester Stallone is well underway with his awesome looking The Expendables, and that he’s already got Rambo 5 in the pipeline. But that’s not all - apparently after that, Sly is going to give his most well known character another bout in the ring with another Rocky flick.
Stallone reportedly spoke to Tele 5 in Germany recently and since then, the quotes from that interview have made their way online and spread like wild fire (don’t they always?). The quotes are being sourced everywhere from Teen Say (special thanks to /Film for picking it up from them), where Stallone reveals his desire/intention to make Rocky 7. Here’s what he had to say:

Damn you Sly Stallone! There's a story making its way around the web right now that features a few new quotes from Sylvester Stallone that say that he just announced that he'll be going back to playing Rocky Balboa yet again in Rocky 7. Apparently Stallone was talking with Tele 5 in Germany and the quotes ended up online at places like TeenSay.co.uk (via SlashFilm). We already know that Sly is now finishing up The Expendables, due for release next August, and got a greenlight from Nu Image to make Rambo 5 next year. If all this is to be believed, then he'll follow that up yet with Rocky 7, presumably in late 2010 or early 2011. After Sylvester Stallone wraps his fifth Rambo, apparently a curious creature feature and now officially given the go ahead to start shooting in the spring, it looks like Stallone is looking to once again revive his other iconic turn/cash cow. It seemed like a minor miracle to me that Rocky 6 was so well received and so going for a seventh roll of the dice seems at first like a gamble too far, but Stallone's feeling quite philosophical: When I was 21 years old and at drama school. My teacher said to me, 'If you ever put your head out there, thousands of people will try to cut it off, but that's exactly what you need to do as an artist.' "I know it's ludicrous and everyone would laugh. I would laugh about it. But I also know that I'd be successful if I can make this a film about »

Good god, another Rocky movie? Then again, didn’t we all thought that exact same thing when he made “Rocky Balboa” and later, “Rambo”? Fact is, no one has wanted Sylvester Stallone to return to his two aging characters, but he did it anyway, and the box office has proven his instincts correct. Now Stallone wants to make another Rocky movie (the seventh in the franchise), even if his kids are begging him not to. One presumes they don’t like seeing their 63-year old dad (64 or 65 by the time the movie gets made, probably) in glistening boxers trading jabs in the ring with some guy half his age. DigitalSpy reports Stallone telling a German site Tele5 Germany: “I know I’ll probably make a fool of myself if I make another Rocky film after turning 60. Even my wife says, ‘Don’t do it. You’re embarrassing the kids’. But I told her, »

63-year-old Sylvester Stallone is working on Rocky 7 whether you like it or not.
“I know I’ll probably make a fool of myself if I make another Rocky film after turning 60,” said Stallone who is wrapping up his next action-tastic fiesta The Expendables.
“I also know there’s gonna be a lot of criticism. Even my wife says, ‘Don’t do it. You’re embarrassing the kids’. But I told her, ‘If I don’t try I’ll be a really unhappy man.’”
Stallone is also writing a script for Rambo V, a follow-up to 2008’s Rambo, which earned $155 million worldwide.
“I know it’s ludicrous and everyone would laugh. I would laugh about it,” Stallone went on to say. “But I also know that I’d be successful if I can make this a film about becoming older, not about boxing but about myself.”

Earlier this year, Fango exposed readers to a short film winning much acclaim in the UK titled The Soldier (you can read about it here). At the time, it was hinted that the movie might spawn a full-length feature, and Fango got word from director Shaun Robert Smith that The 4th Reich is moving ahead, shooting next spring with some pretty big names and exciting prospects.
“This is going to be the mother of all zombie films,” Smith tells Fango; he also passed on the production art seen here. “Not just that, but a heavy historical aspect too; you could say we are working on a war film with zombies. And to add to the joyride, it’ll be in 3-D! In fact, we will be one of the first 3-D films to emerge from the UK ever.”
Reich takes place in 1944 after the victories of D-Day, and follows a »

Sylvester Stallone will bring The Expendables to theaters next August (originally April), and the thing I'm most interested in seeing is not the movie itself or even the rag-tag collection of talent, which you'd hardly call A-list across the board, but rather whether or not this movie really scores with audiences.
I really don't know what the response will be. Rambo did Ok, none of Jason Statham's movies are hits, Jet Li is hardly bankable, and on and on it goes. To a large degree, these guys draw the same crowd, so it's hard to look at the ensemble and think it's going to be a $100 million movie or anything. But let's say it does put up that kind of number; how many copycats will this one inspire?
So there's finally a trailer for The Expendables and you can form your own opinions. Feel free to share it, by the way. »

Julie Benz has seen her fair share of onscreen combat. She plays Rita Bennett on the hit Showtime series Dexter and has starred in the action-packed thrillers Rambo and Punisher: War Zone. No actress can play the love interest or the damsel in distress forever and nobody deserves a chance to wield firearms more than Benz. In Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, Benz gets to play the ultimate female badass, FBI agent Eunice Bloom. Not only does Benz have the pressure of living up to Paul Smecker.s (Willem Dafoe) legacy, but she also has to hold her own on a set overflowing with testosterone. All Saints Day isn.t the only buzzworthy item on Benz.s resume; Dexter just kicked off its fourth season and the tension is higher than ever. Rita, Dexter and the kids may appear to be the perfect family, but Dexter.s dark passenger »
