Director, writer, producer, and actor Larry Fessenden has slogged his way to becoming a prominent force in the horror genre over the course of more than two decades. His first film to really start turning heads was the provocative thriller No Telling (1991). He secured his place on the horror film map by writing, directing, and starring in the gritty vampire nightmare Habit (1995), which was followed by Wendigo (2001) and The Last Winter (2006).
His acting roles have ranged from brief glimpses in films like Martin Scorsese's Bringing Out The Dead (1999), Brad Anderson's Session 9 (2001), Jim Jarmusch's Broken Flowers (2005), and Neil Jordan’s The Brave One (2007), to leading roles in Glenn McQuaid's I Sell The Dead (2008) and Chad Crawford Kinkle's Jug Face (2013). Fessenden can also be spotted in this year's You’re Next, directed by Adam Wingard, Hellbenders, directed by J.T. Petty, and We Are What We Are,...

“Satan hates You” arrives to DVD on October 18, 2011. Among current independent auteurs, James Felix McKenney has built one of the most eclectic filmographies in the genre, drawing from a variety of inspirations. After starting out with the zombie opus Canniballistic!, he moved into haunted-place territory with The Off Season, then homaged ’50s sci-fi cheapies with Automatons. His latest, Satan Hates You (starting a one-week New York City run today at the reRun Gastropub Theater), is modeled on the Christian scare films of the ’60s and ’70s.

I know there has to be some geeks out there who are fans of Pauley Perrette, who plays Abby Sciuto on the CBS television series, NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service. She’s the Goth girl/forensic specialist who was once described by another character on the show as “a paradox wrapped in an oxymoron smothered in contradictions in terms. Sleeps in a coffin. Really, the happiest goth you’ll ever meet.”
Outside of NCIS, Perrette does a couple other dashes of geek cred, having lent her voice in one episode of the animated series, Batman Beyond and more recently playing Ramona, a virtual alter ego in a documentary hybrid film based on Ray Kurzweil’s book, The Singularity is Near.
Now, Perrette will be taking a lead role in The Work Room Productions‘ next film, The Girl From Mars. Check out their release below for all the details.

This Tuesday, March 30th, is the long awaited DVD/Blu-ray release date of Glenn McQuaid's I Sell the Dead, and our trilogy of interviews with its cast and crew continues with the one -- the only -- Angus Scrimm, who portrays the character of Dr. Vernon Quint in the film.
Elaine Lamkin: Thank you for taking time to do this interview with me, Angus. First question – how did you find yourself playing Dr. Quint in I Sell the Dead? What was the attraction? And how would you describe the good doctor, whose exit from the film is both hilarious and well-deserved?
Angus Scrimm: In January, 2008, this ruddy-cheeked Irish fellow with a perpetual twinkle in his eye turned up at the Burbank, California, studio where Larry Fessenden was filming the infamous rant I contributed to Jim McKenney's Automatons DVD "extras." Undeterred by what he saw, he offered me the role of Dr.

Dark Sky Films is rolling on James Felix McKenney's feature Hypothermia . Starring Michael Rooker ( Slither ), Blanche Baker ( The Girl Next Door ), Greg Finley, Don Wood ( Automatons ), Ben Forster and Amy Chang, the film is being produced in partnership with Larry Fessenden's Glass Eye Pix. The story takes place in Maine in the dead of winter. Ray Pelletier and his wife Helen have been ice fishing the frozen expanse of Lake Noyade for over two decades but this year something is different: no fish bite. Is it their new neighbors on the ice - Stevie Jr. and his overbearing Dad - with their high-tech gear and over-sized rig that is driving the fish away? Or is it something else? The answer comes in an onslaught of ferocious attacks that unites the two families against a...

Very little has been said about James Felix McKenney's latest production Hypotermia . Dark Sky Films is shepherding this latest Glass Eye Pix production from the Automatons director. Larry Fessenden is producing and a teaser trailer , by McKenney, was created, but told us nothing. This morning, however, we happened upon the following synopsis: Imagine Jaws under the ice, imagine terror at 20 degrees below freezing... In a remote winter hideaway devoid of any sign of life, two unsuspecting families on an ice-fishing vacation discover something sinister lurking in the frozen lake. One thing is for certain - the creature is hungry and the only prey left is human. Hypothermia is a classic monster movie in the tradition of The Creature from the Black Lagoon . Jaws...

Back in June we reported on the upcoming slate for Glass Eye Pix, the production company backed by Larry Fessenden which is behind such greats as The Last Winter, Automatons, and I Sell the Dead. One of those films was Bitter Feast, a horror comedy about a chef who takes revenge on one of his critics.. and it stars Food Network and Iron Chef America favorite Mario Batali (whos also my personal fave, go Mario!). What more is there to say? This teaser is a clear definition of the word "tease".

When I caught up to Larry Fessenden back in January, he gave us the scoop about an upcoming project entitled Hypothermia . The pic's progress, directed by James Felix McKenney ( Automatons ) under Fessenden's Glass Eye Pix banner, and its production schedule were dictated by the weather, however, that hasn't stopped McKenney and the team to whip up a nifty teaser trailer. The story finds two families that go on vacation and discover something lurking beneath the ice. Watch the teaser here!

Man, the guys at Glass Eye Pix are going to be busy this year. It was only today that we reported on the release of Jim Mickle's promo-reel for the upcoming vampire apocalypse epic, Stake Land, and now we're hearing from 24fps that James Felix McKenney, director of the retro robot shakedown, Automatons, and the upcoming religious horror throwback, Satan Hates You, is also prepping a new creature feature for the production company called Hypothermia for release in 2010.
Once again, plot info's scarce but word is that Hypothermia's plot centres around two families in Maine, who go on an ice fishing trip and it looks like they catch more than they bargained for.

Once again its time to dip a (icy) toe in the murky waters of U.S independent horror with something we stumbled on (whilst ready about the release of Glenn McQuaid’s superb “I Sell The Dead”), the upcoming creature feature, Hypothermia. Directed by ‘Automatons,’ ‘Satan Hates You’ helmer James Felix McKenney, Hypothermias plot centres around two families in Maine, who go on an ice fishing trip and it looks like they catch more than they bargained for. More as we get it.

Larry Fessenden, the modern Roger Corman of the New York area filmmaking scene, visited our East Coast Weekend of Horrors recently with a bunch of the directors whose flicks he’s backing via his Glass Eye Pix company. Fango spoke to them behind the scenes to get the scoop on a trio of upcoming co-productions between Glass Eye and Mpi Media Group; we start with Hypothermia, a creature feature from James Felix McKenney, the man behind The Off Season, Automatons and the upcoming Satan Hates You (which we recently premiered the new trailer for here).
McKenney’s wearing a Creature from the Black Lagoon belt buckle when he visits the convention, and tells us, “Hypothermia is very much inspired by Creature, one of my favorite movies of all time—I’m obsessed with it. People are constantly re-exploring werewolves, vampires, the Frankenstein story—but, you know, the Creature’s the Creature.

It’s the latest effort from James Felix McKenney (Automatons) and producer Larry Fessenden and it stars a whole lot of old-school horror icons, Angus Scrimm and Reggie Bannister among them. It’s Satan Hates You and Fangoria have just gotten an exclusive look at the trailer.
Inspired by films from the golden age of religious cinema, Satan Hates You is a graphic horror film that tells the stories of two individuals and their personal struggles with Lucifer himself.
We follow Marc (Don Wood) a homicidal maniac driven by demons buried deep within his soul, and Wendy (Christine Spencer) a young woman who lives life fast and hard without a second’s thought to the consequences. Their separate paths will eventually cross, but will it be on the road to salvation or the highway to hell?

From James Felix McKenney (Automatons) and the whole Glass Eye Pix Crew (where should I start? The Last Winter, I Sell the Dead, Wendy and Lucy) comes a film we first mentioned Wayyy back in November 2007. A throwback to Christian scare films of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, James directed this himself and like any other Monsterpants/Glass Eye Pix film I'm greatly looking forward to it.. Did I say these guys got the magic touch? Just look who's in it: Larry Fessenden, Angus Scrimm, Reggie Bannister, Michael Berryman, Debbie Rochon, Pauly Perrette, John Levene and a cameo from author Max Brooks.

I’ve never heard of James Felix McKenney, or heard of his 2006 sci-fi/horror movie “Automatons” (aka “Death to the Automatons”), but he’s put the entire movie online for you to view now (scroll below if you can’t wait to watch the movie) over at Reel 13. It looks pretty impressive for a low-budget movie shot in black and white, and co-stars “Phantasm’s” Angus Scrimm and director Larry Fessenden. Says McKenney about putting his movie online for the masses: “I’m incredibly excited to have our film be part of Reel 13. I have been a huge fan of Public Television my whole life. In fact, Automatons is almost entirely inspired by my a large part of childhood spent staring through the snow at a tiny B&W television with a coat hanger for an antenna to watch Doctor Who, The Prisoner, Matinee At The Bijou, Night Of The Living Dead...

New York genre stalwart Larry Fessenden has been a very busy man as of late. The writer/director of the much-praised Wendigo and The Last Winter has become a veritable East Coast Roger Corman in recent years, producing a string of low-budget genre features for the Scareflix banner of his Glass Eye Pix production company. One of them, the psychedelically tinged I Can See You, will soon have its premiere theatrical engagement in Manhattan—with a special added bonus.
I Can See You (pictured right), the feature writer/directing debut of Graham Reznick (sound designer on Scareflix’s The Roost, Automatons and Trigger Man), will be playing at the new hi-def Cinema Purgatorio theater at Kgb/Kraine (85 East 4th Street) starting Wednesday, April 29 and continuing at least through Tuesday, May 5, with an additional show already slated for Sunday, May 10. It's been a Real long time since we've heard anything on McKenney's (Automatons) Satan Hates You, the last bit being that author Max Brooks would be making an appearance. Billed as a tribute to 50s, 60s, and 70s Christian scare films, it has the man with the magic touch, Larry Fessenden, who is producing and also plays a part as an imp. This has been shot in bits and pieces since 2005 (while doing Automatons) and has some high profile faces like one of my personal favorites, The Tall Man himself! (Angus Scrimm)
Inspired by films from the golden age of religious cinema such as A Thief In The Night (1972), If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horses Do? (1971) and Stalked (1969), Satan Hates You is a graphic horror film that tells the stories of two individuals and their personal struggles with Lucifer himself. The film boasts a large ensemble cast, mixing well-known genre names with MonsterPants regulars.

Larry Fessenden has simply got to be the busiest man on the planet, what with his acting, directing and production gigs. And one of the latest efforts from Fessenden and his merry cohorts is the upcoming Satan Hates You, written and directed by James Felix McKenney (Automatons) and jointly produced by Fessenden’s Glass Eye Pix and McKenney’s Monster Pants. Very little has actually been said about the plot for this one so far but McKenney has just released a huge block of stills from the film that show off the huge ensemble cast. How huge? Well, in addition to Fessenden, cult horror faves Angus Scrimm, Reggie Bannister and Michael Berryman all have major roles as well along with a slew of their regular collaborators.

It was high fives and drool buckets all 'round when Quiet Earth discovered Larry Fessenden would be in Toronto for the final days of TAD08 to be in attendance at the World Premiere of I Sell The Dead. Would he do an interview? Yes? Bloody good. Dr Nathan strangled the opportunity to meet and share a couple pints of Guinness with Larry the day before the premiere (which explains the lack of questions), and we cheerfully babbled away until director Glenn McQuaid and some of the Glass EyePix posse showed and it was time to pull the coffin cover closed…
