Joanne Whalley, as always, is a delight to watch, and here she gives a very compelling performance as a childless therapist, married to a man who may or not be having an affair with his ex wife, and between them they have the unfortunate problem of having adopted 2 Canadian sisters, traumatised from the murder of their mother. The resulting drama is one of intrigue as evidence suggests that the elder daughter may have killed her own mother....or did she? Unfortunately, despite a solid performance from Hannah Lochner, she seems to have had restrained direction and the end result is that you feel little sympathy for the bereaved child, but that she really needs a damn good slapping. Indeed at times she is portrayed as a vicious little monster, especially in one scene with her stepbrother and a pair of scissors. Only towards the end does her character soften and she evokes some sympathy at all the trauma she has been through.
What unravels is a compelling story of murder, suspense and some great acting. How great it is to how Joanne Whalley back on UK TV screens, and just as beautiful as her "Willow" days....
