Chris Pine is not who you think he is. Sure, he’s the handsome, blue-eyed actor famous for roles combining action, intensity, and charm in Star Trek, Wonder Woman, and Into the Woods. But beneath the movie star is a man who grew up with deep insecurities. He loves his job and talking cinema but doesn’t enjoy talking about himself and would rather be drinking coffee and reading than being interviewed.
It is Valentine’s Day morning when we speak via Zoom, just a few days shy of the 20th anniversary of the E.R. episode “A Thousand Cranes,” Pine’s 2003 onscreen debut where he played a guy who got drunk—at a blow-out Valentine’s party. The publicity machine is revving up for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, his action-adventure vehicle based on the tabletop fantasy game, but he’s also thinking of his directorial debut Poolman,...

Exclusive: Ray Donovan’s Pooch Hall has signed with Zero Gravity for management.
Hall, who has starred for seven seasons as Ray’s (Liev Schreiber) younger brother Darryll Donovan on Ray Donovan, is set to film the feature-length film version of the hit Showtime series later this year. The film, directed by showrunner David Hollander, will bring the popular series to a close, picking up where Season 7 left off after its surprise cancellation last year.
Prior to Ray Donovan, Hall portrayed Derwin Davis on BET comedy series The Game. He began his career in New York where he landed a small role in the independent feature film Lift, opposite Kerry Washington. He went on to starring and supporting roles in the independent films Black Cloud and Blind Dating with Chris Pine for director James Keach; and larger studio films such as DreamWorks’ A Dog’s Purpose, directed by Lasse Hallström; the biopic Chuck,...

“Hell or High Water” has been a critical success and is now nominated for an Oscar in the Best Picture category. Star Katy Mixon tells TheWrap that she knew the movie was special from early on. “I’m a person of gut, I’m a person of instinct — that one was really special,” Mixon told Stuart Brazell during a recent interview. “I knew when I met Jeff Bridges — and I had known Chris Pine because we had done a movie together back in the day called ‘Blind Dating,’ like 10 years ago — and then I met Ben Foster. I knew when I.

I want Hayley from "The Amazing Race" to be my new Waze voice. Is that so much to ask? Fox keeps teasing me with Waze voices from their shows -- Terry Crews, Tom Mison, Will Forte -- and then pulling them for no good reason. Right now I'm using Vlade Divac and as funny as Vlade has been at times over the years, his directions aren't amusing me and he bumbles "left" and "right" in ways that leave me a bit perplexed, which would cause a real problem were it not for the reality that I rely on Waze to give me a few major points, but I often ignore the little things, like when Waze tries to get me to take left turns onto crowded intersections without lights. I want Hayley from "The Amazing Race" as my Waze voice so that she can keep telling me the correct way...

I know that sometimes teams are going to get lost on "The Amazing Race" and that every once in a while, getting lost is going to get a team eliminated on "The Amazing Race." But if you're going to get lost on "The Amazing Race" and that's going to be your undoing... Try to make it dramatic. Ask 50 people for directions and get increasingly more flummoxed. Fight and throw your maps in the air in outrage. Bang your head against your car horn repeatedly. Go the wrong way and end up in an ocean or accidentally steer yourself into a foreign country, through a hostile border, forcing armed guards to shoot out your tires. Oh and don't get so horribly lost that you get eliminated from "The Amazing Race" when you're in one of the smallest countries in the world. Sigh. More on Friday's (April 10) "The Amazing Race" after the break.

Ooops. Somebody forgot to include the drama in Friday (February 27) night's episode of "The Amazing Race," which was edited with less of an exclamation point and more of an unconcerned shrug. Starting a whopping 29 minutes into the episode, teams started popping up at the Pit Stop and I expected Phil Keoghan to say something like, "Really? We're done?" Instead, Phil was asking people things like, "Is there any romantic connection do you think?" Ladies and gentlemen... Season 26 of "The Amazing Race." There were good moments in Friday's episode, titled "I Got The Smartest Dude," but they didn't add up to anything, because by the time the eliminated team reached the Pit Stop, they'd been in last for the entirely time and they were just smiling and laughing and happy and ready to go home. And if they don't care, why should we? Let's get down to recapping business after the break.

"The Amazing Race" giveth and "The Amazing Race" taketh away. Following a season that saw ratings drop on Fridays, "The Amazing Race" got a special Wednesday showcase after the "Survivor: Worlds Apart" premiere and with both long-running favorites instituting format twists this season, CBS was able to spare 90 minutes apiece for the two launches. Longtime readers know that I'm pretty insistent that you need to have at least a 90-minute premiere for "The Amazing Race," because the effort to establish 11 teams of 22 players while also giving the necessary exposure to navigating around international locations and for various challenges is almost impossible in only 60 minutes. I don't think "The Amazing Race" has ever had an entirely satisfying hour-long premiere. And the 90 minutes given to Wednesday's (February 25) "Amazing Race" premiere were enough to help me see some of the merit to the Blind Dating twist that gave us six teams of established couples,...

This week’s episode of “The Mindy Project” starts with Mindy (Mindy Kaling) and Danny (Chris Messina) having a go at the romantic bath. It’s interrupted when Danny’s mother Annette (Rhea Perlman) shows up yet again. Mindy takes issue with how much she’s been around but Danny explains that it’s just because they’re all each other had for a long time. After talking to Peter (Adam Pally) about it, she gets the idea to set Annette up on a date in hope that she’ll ease of the two of them. She arranges the date with an older doctor that Jeremy (Ed [...]

Dreamworks premiered People Like Us at the Seattle Film Festival back at the beginning of June. The film comes from director and co-writer Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Transformers) and stars Chris Pine alongside Elizabeth Banks, Michelle Pfieffer, Olivia Wilde and Michael D'Addario and centers on the story of Sam (Pine), a fast-talking salesman whose father, whom he hasn't spoken to in years, dies suddenly. As a result, Sam is called home to put his father's estate in order and receives a shock when he learns he has a sister (Banks) he didn't even know existed. I had a chance to sit down for 25 minutes with both Kurtzman and Pine the day after the film screened and I originally planned on presenting the interview as one piece until Pine gave a passionate response to my very last question, which I have transcribed but also included the complete audio at the bottom of this post.

It.s a three-hero project.Confirming the news, Ekta says, .It is true. He is one of the biggest Indian actors abroad. It was not easy to sign him and it took us about six months to rope him in. We had to go through a long process of meeting his agency in La and then have the narration. However, the effort was worth it as he is on board. I think it is a big coup for all of us..Talking about the film, Ekta says, .Tusshar (Kapoor) is playing another lead role in the film. We have to finalise one more actor. The actor played a blind man in the 2006 romantic comedy and he researched the role by keeping his eyes shut in Sin City, impressing Seymour with his commitment to his craft.
She explains, "He's a great actor - he really studied how to play this kid who was blind. He went to Las Vegas on the way to where we were shooting in Utah and he actually pretended to be blind for about three days. People wouldn't actually talk to him directly. It was really bizarre."...

Finishing their lunch at the venue, the twosome, who broke up in March, was spotted hugging when they wanted to go separate ways. During the outing, the "Star Trek" star opted to wear a blue long-sleeved shirt matched with jeans and blue shoes. The 26-year-old actress, in the meantime, was photographed donning a short white dress.

Having landed himself a role of James T. Kirk in TV-to-film adaptation "Star Trek", Chris Pine sets his eyes on another big screen adaptation of a classic TV show, "The A-Team". The 28-year-old confessed of his hope in joining the cast of the series' movie version to MTV when asked whether he had approached director Joe Carnahan for a possible reunion in the new project.
"We've talked about it," Pine admitted in his response to the question, adding that he would love to once again work with the director after previous collaboration in "Smokin' Aces". While his good look can land him the role of Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck, the "Just My Luck" star has another idea in his mind. "No, Murdock is my man," he insisted. "I love Murdock."
"The A-Team" will be a big screen adaptation to the NBC's popular '80s TV series of the same name.

The lovely Rachel Bilson will be pined for yet again in the new independently-produced romance, Waiting for Forever. Bilson, late of Jumper, will be seen in next year's New York, I Love You, though her film career hasn't exactly exploded.
The film is about an unemployed guy who figures that's an A-OK way to go through life, so long as he's got a beautiful actress to pay his bills. The script is by Steve Adams, and James Keach will produce. Keach has directed plenty of times before, most recently Blind Dating with Chris Pine, but he's probably better known as a producer for films like Walk the Line.
Variety reports that the production will start up sometime in the next, oh, week, headquartered in Salt Lake City. The role of the lazy boyfriend hasn't been cast just yet.

Since breaking into stardom on The O.C. a few years back, Rachel Bilson has vacillated between doing bad indies (The Last Kiss) and bad big-budget adventures (Jumper). She'll attempt to end the losing streak by going back to the indie side, starring in the romance Waiting for Forever. As a stretch, 27-year-old Bilson will play a 25-year-old Hollywood actress, whose boyfriend chooses to quit his job and simply live with her for the rest of his life. The boyfriend, apparently, has not yet been cast. Variety also reports that James Keach, who most recently directed the indie romantic comedy Blind Dating, will direct the film.
