It’s been 16 years since Super Troopers underperformed at the box office only to blossom into a bonafide cult classic, and now comedy troupe Broken Lizard are back with Super Troopers 2. The troupe have produced several other films since Super Troopers, including Club Dread and Beer League, but none entered the zeitgeist the way Troopers did.
Of course, a long delayed sequel to a well-loved comedy doesn’t always turn out for the best. Remember Dumb and Dumber To? If you do, I’m sorry. Hopefully Super Troopers 2 will manage to recapture the stoner comedy magic that endeared the first film to so many.
Broken Lizard’s Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske all return, along with Brian Cox, and new members to the cast include Lynda Carter and Rob Lowe. Super Troopers 2 opens 4/20/2018, because of course it does. You can watch...

Some movies will always make me laugh, but let’s face it; the same movies might make others yawn. Comedy is tricky business, the hardest genre to pull off from script to screen. I’ve put together a list of 10 More underrated or dismissed comedies that deserve a first chance or even a second chance at recognition. Humor is subjective, but gives these flicks a chance and I promise you will enjoy yourself.
Check out the first 10 here and 10 more below; let me know what you think and what your list might look like.
Beer League
An unemployed slacker inspires his softball teammates to improve their game so they won’t get kicked out of the local league.
Director: Frank Sebastiano
Writers: Frank Sebastiano, Artie Lange
Stars: Artie Lange, Ralph Macchio
I found a double disc DVD for this in a sale bin (not a surprise) for $5, it was well worth it.

Tina Fey can do no wrong in my eyes. Of course, everyone loves her in 30 Rock, got down with her as Weekend Update host and couldn.t get enough of her Sarah Palin impression, but my obsession goes far beyond that. I.ve seen Mean Girls at least thirty-five times. I own Artie Lange.s Beer League, at least partially because she cameos long enough to deliver the epic line .And another skank gets herpies.. I saw Date Night in theaters twice. I even defend Baby Mama. If Tina Fey.s there, I.m not far behind, which is why I.m already getting excited about Admission. According to The Wrap, Fey is in talks to star in an adaptation of the popular Jean Hanff Korelitz novel. The basic plot follows a Princeton admissions officer that finds herself in hot water after her relationship with a potential applicant spins out...

A friend suggested to me Tina Fey might be a young Woody Allen in the making. I get the feeling this funny woman is avoiding centre stage
Everyone loves Tina Fey, and that can be hard. "Everyone" is no exaggeration. At 40, Fey has won seven Emmys, four Screen Actors Guild awards and four Writers Guild prizes. Three times People magazine has listed her in the 100 Most Beautiful People (she's pretty, I know – but does People really search?). She has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in 2010, she got the Mark Twain prize for American Humor.
"Everyone"? Well, maybe not Sarah Palin, the object of Fey's sharp impersonations. And yet, perhaps, Palin grins at every cut. Do you sometimes have the horrid feeling that the Fey wit (take that as you like) is only helping to broadcast Palin and play into the sensitivities of those who might vote for her?...

If you blocked the name on Mary Birdsong's resume, and just read a few lines of it at a time, you'd be convinced she's a dude. Perhaps not, but when you consider her credits are emblazoned with such men friendly shows as Reno 911 and flicks like Artie Lange's Beer League, one might guess that. Why anyone would have a copy of her resume and cover up her name is another story, but I needed a strong opening and I think I've succeeded. Anyway, getting beyond that show dedicated to nuthugging cops with mustaches and pints of Bud, Birdsong (clearly not a dude), has a mass appeal to both sexes. You've seen her in something, and if you haven't yet, you will. The actress/performer has extensive credits in television, film, and the stage, and is currently appearing in the...

Echo Bridge Entertainment has acquired all U.S. and Canadian rights from Ckrush Entertainment to the feature film Beer League, starring Artie Lange. The comedy centers on an unemployed underachiever (Lange) who plays in a small-town softball league in New Jersey with his ragtag group of misfit friends. When the team is threatened with permanent expulsion from the local league, they must rally and move from last place to first. The cast also includes Ralph Macchio, Anthony De Sando, Cara Buono and Seymour Cassel.
