Teddy Told Me To, the directorial debut of effects artist Tom Devlin is based on a character he created for an episode of SyFy’s makeup show Face Off back in 2011. Teddy was designed to be the villain for a slasher film, and now eleven years later, he’s just that.
The film opens with a YouTuber sneaking into an old haunted attraction, “abandoned since all the way back in the 90s!”, only to meet a bloody end. That video is being watched by Danny and Zoe who are meeting a realtor about that very property.
Of course, they buy it and renovate it with visions of making a killing in the spooky season. When their groundskeeper Ron tells them somebody made a...

The Alien experience came to life at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The Alien: Covenant Colonist Certification Test activation exposed fans to the harshest of Alien environments to see if they're up for the task of being an Alien Planet Colonist.
When you first enter the attraction, you have received very little information from the testing crew. However, the room is full of television monitors, so you can see the action from any angle.
The crew is purposefully vague, informing you that you are about to enter a test environment to see if you are up to the task of...

Slate calls it “The Planet That Shouldn’t Be There.” International Business Times deems it a “Mysterious Alien Planet.” The International Astronomical Union dubs it simply “HD 106906 b.” Sixteen-year-old Sam Menhennet of Melbourne wants to name it “Gallifrey.” From his Change.org petition:
International Astronomical Union : To rename the newly discovered planet “HD 106906 b” to Gallifrey! In honour of Doctor Who and its 50 years! #GallifreyFound
I really want this planet to be named Gallifrey. Even if it just an honorary name, or a nickname, there really needs to be a Gallifrey out there in the universe. Doctor Who is legendary, award winning, record breaking, and global, and this planet deserves something special and supernatural as its name, How better to honor its existence than by dubbing it the home planet of our beloved time travelling alien, The Doctor? Years from now, when I have grandchildren, and I tell them...

This all probably started in 2005, when Animal Planet aired a special entitled “Dragon’s World: A Fantasy Made Real”. Unlike most of their regular programs, which seemed to mainly be focused on various law enforcement professionals specializing in animal control problems, “Dragon’s World” took the idea of the dragon as a real, scientifically plausible creature and made a documentary complete with a mummified dragon corpse being unearthed in Romania.
Neil Gaiman served as a consultant on the program. When it aired, there was a mix of CGI animation, “experts” being interviewed, and footage of the dragon being excavated and preserved. Gaiman himself did a couple of blog posts about the work and it was a fun little exercise in idle speculation. It wasn’t anything spectacularly new, after all, similar ground had been covered in the excellent book “Flight of Dragons” by Peter Dickinson and Wayne Anderson concerning scientifically...

Seems as if it’s Guardians of the Galaxy week on HeyUGuys. Yesterday we spoke to James Gunn at the Iron Man 3 premiere, where he answered our questions about several of the rumours surrounding the project.
Earlier today, one of our readers pointed us at a casting call on a website called Universal Extras. As the name suggests, the site offers university students the chance to be extras in movies. And lo and behold, today they’ve got a call out for a load of roles in a “new Marvel Super hero film about a team of super heroes who protect the Galaxy in the future of a different dimension”, as well as a few more mundane calls for an inspector in a TV detective series, and a Scottish drama about a close-knit community.

Podcast: Reviewing 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2,' 'Anna Karenina' and 'Silver Linings Playbook'
It's been a while since we had three movies to review, which means today's episode is a little longer than normal as we get to discuss The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, Anna Karenina and Silver Linings Playbook. On top of that, Laremy gets to try and guess movies based on their German titles and we get to several of your questions and over/unders in an episode that runs a whopping 99 minutes long. There is also one show note I want to make sure you're aware of, there will be no Tuesday or Friday podcast next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday and instead there will only be one Wednesday podcast. So adjust your calendars appropriately. As always, I have broken down this episode on a minute-by-minute basis if you would like to skip ahead and below I have featured the information on how to download the podcast,...

While Ridley Scott is hard at work on Prometheus it’s still uncertain if it’s actually a real prequel to his famous sci-fi classic in 1979′s Alien. I guess it doesn’t matter since it looks like Fox is still keen on further sequels to the original four films, which ended in Alien Resurrection.
“…the “Alien” series will continue – in another form. I don’t know much, but I’ve heard whispers that sequels (to the original quadrilogy – Ripley’s story) might be back [in] the cards; the whole ‘Alien Planet’ idea is still very much something everyone over at Fox and Scott Free are interested in. You ain’t seen the last of Facehugger.”
That’s from Moviehole, which claims they heard some murmurs around Fox. Either way, cool, but we’ll find out first just what the hell is going on when Prometheus streets June 8th, 2012.

Finally, one of the box-sets we’ve all been waiting for! The Alien franchise is one of those series that’s perfect for Blu-Ray. It is a benchmark for the format and you can check out our full review of The Alien Anthology below.
Alien:
How much can one say about the timeless classic sci-fi horror film that hasn’t been said before? Well, very little. This is still Ridley Scott‘s finest film to date and it hasn’t aged a bit. Every beat of tension still lands with a punch, the alien is still one of the best ever to be put on-screen, and it’s atmosphere stays eerie and unsettling throughout.
Alien is the king of the monster movies. Very few horror films can achieve the level of investment Scott and co. did with making you actually care for the ensemble, even outside of Ripley. What...

According to Radar Online, Mel Gibson, anti-Semitic star of What Women Want, yelled racist garbage at the embattled mother of his child. Anyway, speaking of radar, guess what scientists located via telescope today? Alien planet! Alien planet, everyone! According to Space.com, designated non–Mel Gibson Internet safe haven, “[a] planet outside of our solar system, said to be the first ever directly photographed by telescopes on Earth, has been officially confirmed to be orbiting a sun-like star, according to follow-up observations.” The planet is around 2,700 degrees Farenheit, approximately the temperature in New York this past Monday. The Huffington Post reports that the planet is orbiting the star 1Rxs 1609 and is part of a star cluster known as the Upper Scorpius Association. Now that you are more familiar with our new alien friend, let’s pick a name. We’ll humbly put forth the following for the consideration of the scientific community: Harold,...

We’ve not heard too much about the anticipated live-action adaptation of the Gears of War franchise, but way back in February Screen Rant reported that Len Wiseman (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard) would be directing the Gears of War feature film and co-writing the screenplay alongside Chris Morgan (Wanted, Fast & Furious).
Unfortunately, Wiseman also said he knows nothing about video games – A big red flag considering all video game movies tend to suck because movie studios can’t/don’t replicate the important parts of a video game.
In October, Screen Rant then found out that Billy Ray, who wrote State of Play and Breach is writing the Gears of War script for New Line and that was the last we heard… until now.
Speaking to MakingOf, producer Wyck Godfrey revealed some hints as to what story elements will be the focus of the adaptation.
