Another Depressing Short
One thing I've noticed about a lot of short films that I've recently seen ( And now that BIG BROTHER has finished its run on channel 4 while BBC 2 has scheduled a season of shorts we're spoiled rotten for screenings of short films at the moment ) is how many of them hit home as to what a bunch of violent thugs we have living in this country
Take SISTER for example . An Asiatic lad sits on the school bus with his sister and to escape her nagging he decides to sit up the back . Bad decision because as the bus continues on its run a couple of bullies get on and is often the case group dynamics take over when they spot someone different to themselves
Despite being well made and despite the upbeat ending this is yet another depressing short film made in Britain , mainly down to it being a slice of real life . Can't anyone get funding for a cheerful short in this country anymore ? I should also point out that having a Welsh cast makes it very difficult when the characters in general and the two neanderthals in particular are very difficult to understand when they open their mouths
