Hey look, it's real news about a Quentin Tarantino movie that is actually in production as opposed to that Britney Spears bullsh!t that was being tossed around yesterday. Today we get word that Brad Pitt has signed on the dotted line and will star in Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards and joining him in early casting are Eli Roth (director of Hostel) and B.J. Novak ("The Office", Knocked Up). Pitt will play a Tennessee hillbilly who assembles a team of eight Jewish-American soldiers. Eli Roth will play the role of Sgt. Donnie Donowitz, and Tarantino is locking in the other seven American actors who make up the Bastards team. Novak is expected to play Pfc Utivich, described as a soldier of slight build who comes from New York. The film centers on a band of U.S. soldiers facing death by firing squad for their misdeeds are given a chance to

Quentin Tarantino's upcoming Inglorious Bastards continues to make headlines on an almost more-than-daily basis. Two weeks ago, the news was great for Qt fans: Brad Pitt was definitely in, the movie would begin filming this October, a studio signed up to distribute and help produce the film, and next year's Cannes Film Festival was still the date circled on the calendar.
Then everything else happened. Leonardo DiCaprio passed on the project, and Qt signed his friend (though not a noted actor) Eli Roth for a different character. The other names mentioned for the ensemble cast in the Nazi-killin' WWII drama included Simon Pegg, Nastassja Kinski, B.J. Novak from The Office, and David Krumholtz from Numbers.
Two of those names have been crossed off the list, with Pegg citing scheduling issues and though we don't know the reasons for Krumholtz' removal from the list of potential Bastards, it's interesting that

Over the past week we’ve heard and read quite a lot about the casting of Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming WWII drama “Inglorious Bastards,” and now things slowly seem to be coming together. Well, it’s about time.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brad Pitt has now officially joined the project. That’s right, Mr. Jolie has signed on to play Lt. Aldo Raine, leader of the Jewish resistance.
Also in negotiations to star in the violent drama is Simon Pegg, who would star as a British lieutenant. Additionally, Tarantino is in talks with Nastassja Kinski for the role of a German actress.
Just a few days ago, “Hostel” director Eli Roth also jumped on board. He will play one of the gang of Nazi hunters.
I’m glad the pre-production on Tarantino’s flick is moving ahead at a quick pace. If he really wants to have the film

Brad Pitt is a bastard.
Nope, I’m not starting up a Jennifer Aniston fansite, I’m letting you know that it is now official that Pitt has signed on to play Aldo Raines in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards.
This isn’t exactly big news as we’ve been talking about it for weeks, but Mr Pitt has now put his signature on the dotted line.
Also signing up to the WWII flick is Hostel director Eli Roth. Roth who will play Sgt. Donnie Donowitz had a small role in Qt’s Grindhouse segment Death Proof, and the Pulp Fiction director also produced both Hostel films, so the two guys are obviously buddies.
The Office cast member, writer and producer Bj Novak has also come on-board; as has Shaun of The Dead star Simon Pegg (replacing Tim Roth); David Krumholtz (Numbers) and Nastassja Kinski.
The cast is shaping up nicely,

In the world of Quentin Tarantino, it's never safe to run with an assumption. That's the reason we didn't even bother reporting on the rumor that Qt wanted Leonardo DiCaprio for his upcoming war movie, Inglorious Bastards. Turns out, Leo won't be involved, so that saved us a cozy 30 minutes of writing. However, we did talk about the rumors that Brad Pitt would join the cast; apparently, they're still in negotiations, although I still have my doubts, based on Pitt's schedule and when Tarantino wants to shoot the film.
We do have Bastards casting news, though. It's been officially announced that torture porn director Eli Roth will play Sgt. Donnie Donowitz, a Jewish, bat swinging Nazi hunter. That should tie in nicely with Roth's obvious and untamed thirst for seeing blood in movies.
Now I get to ask a question you should never ask about a big, tough war movie

Variety reports director Eli Roth has joined the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming WWII drama “Inglorious Bastards.”
It’s not the first time the “Hostel” helmer appears in a Tarantino flick. He most recently had a minor role in “Death Proof,” one of the two “Grindhouse” flicks.
Apparently, Roth is expected to play Sgt. Donnie Donowitz, one of the film’s ruthless Nazi hunters. Roth’s directing credits include “Cabin Fever.”
Also in talks to join “Bastards” is Brad Pitt, who would jump into the role of Lieut. Aldo Raine. You can read all about this right here.
“Inglorious Bastards” just recently found a home at Universal. Production for the ultraviolent film is scheduled to being this fall.
Roth breaking into the acting business? I have no idea how that would turn out. I guess he has the face to appear in front of the camera, but does he really have the talent?

Yep, it's true! Variety confirms that filmmaker Eli Roth, of Hostel infamy, is in talks to join Quentin Tarantino's WWII epic Inglorious Bastards. I don't think anyone saw this one coming! Roth will play Sgt. Donnie Donowitz, nicknamed "The Bear Jew", one of the rogue Jewish-American soldiers that goes on a suicide mission hunting Nazi's in France. His trademark is smashing Nazi skulls with a baseball bat - something which should be quite exciting to see Roth doing. Additionally, the rumor that popped up about Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio also ends up being only half true - Pitt is still in talks to play Lt. Aldo Raine aka "Aldo the Apache", however Tarantino passed on DiCaprio in favor of a German actor. For those of you who might immediately discredit Inglorious Bastards and Eli Roth, let me remind you that he did have a small "jackass" role in

Variety is reporting that Eli Roth known for his films Hostel and Hostel Part 2 is cast in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino flick Inglorious Bastards about a team of soldiers who fight the Nazi's in occupied france. Brad Pitt has already been cast to play a Jewish American soldier Aldo Raine.
Eli Roth wil play the part of Sgt. Donnie Donowitz. This is a pretty big coup for Eli Roth to be starring in a film along side the likes of Brad Pitt. We will have to wait and see how big the role is and how much of a part he plays in the films story.

People, be excited. Be very, very excited. With news breaking last week that Brad Pitt is all but set to star in Qt's Inglorious Bastards, the film immediately became one of my most anticipated movies of the next year. Well, I didn't think it was possible, but that anticipation just increased tenfold. Why you ask? I shall tell you. Eli Roth, the bloodthirsty nutcase behind the Hostel films is set to play a " baseball bat-swinging Nazi hunter" opposite Brad Pitt. I know many...

While I'm looking forward to seeing exactly how the Dowdle Brothers handle the American remake of [Rec], I'm slightly disappointed by the spoiler-heavy advertising for Quarantine thus far. (This is based on having seen [Rec], maybe they changed it drastically? But it sure doesn't look like it!) Regardless, IGN now has a Red-band trailer for Quarantine, which hits theaters on October 10th this year. It stars Jennifer Carpenter (The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, Dexter), Jonathan Schaech (Prom Night) and Jay Hernandez (Hostel). Watch the following trailer with caution! And read our review of the original Spanish movie this is based on right Here! ([Rec] is rumored to be getting a Us DVD later this year as well.)

In recent years the addition of Quentin Tarantino's name to a film's marketing has been a bit hit or miss, especially when it came to Hostel 2 and I am a bit weary of the upcoming Hell Ride. However, with the 1978 Italian World War II feature Inglorious Bastards it means something a little different, at least to me it does. Just imagine if you could pick the brain of your favorite directors and discuss what films inspired them and made them ever want to become directors in the first place. If you could sit down with Hitchcock, Scorsese, Fellini, Bergman or Spielberg, just imagine the lists of films you could obtain just by listening to the films that inspired their careers. While sitting down with Tarantino may seem to be a daunting thought, considering when you are talking about film this guy is a wild man, Inglorious Bastards is an

Yahoo has posted a brand new theatrical trailer for Quarantine (the American remake of the fantastic Spanish film [Rec]), which stars Jennifer Carpenter (The Exorcism Of Emily Rose) and Jay Hernandez (Hostel). Quite frankly... I don't know what the hell these marketing people are thinking?! I just watched the original Spanish flick [Rec]. (Look for my First Look Review this weekend.) It's one of the best horror films I've seen in years. Yet, having already seen it, I advise you strongly Not to watch these trailers for Quarantine, because... well, they give everything away!!! Perhaps some changes have been made for the American remake, but judging from the trailers, this looks like a shot-for-shot remake and I'm shocked that they'd give away as much as they are in the trailers, and even the theatrical poster. You have been warned! Click Here for Yahoo's trailers. Or Here to watch a teaser to [Rec] from our previous news post.

RZA will make his directorial debut on the film The Man With The Iron Fist. According to filmmaker Eli Roth (Hostel), the Wu-Tang Clan leader is Quentin Tarantino's current protege and has crafted an impressive screenplay for a martial arts feature. He told Chud: "RZA's script is amazing. He has been studying directing with Tarantino for years and he's really ready to get behind the camera. Shock Till You Drop is reporting that Quarantine has been pushed up from October 17th to October 10th, 2008, no doubt to give the flick some distance from Saw V's October 24th release. Quarantine, directed by the Dowdle Brothers (The Poughkeepsie Tapes) and starring Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter and Hostel's Jay Hernandez is an American remake of the Spanish flick [Rec]. (See previous post about that Here!) Looking forward to this one!

Consider this a rumor until it can be confirmed. But last week, the news got out that Lionsgate had begun early discussions for a Hostel: Part 3 and that series creator Eli Roth would not be involved. Now, Bloody-Disgusting got a tip from a reliable source that the studio is talking with series producer Scott Spiegel to write and direct Hostel: Part 3.
Now, for those of you who don't know, Spiegel co-wrote my all time favorite horror movie... Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn. He was one of the producers on 2001 Maniacs, as well as the first 2 Hostel films, and even had a cameo in buddy Sam Raimi's Spider-man 2. (He's the guy on the balcony that tries to eat one of Spidey's slices.) The guy's got a long history with the genre, so even though I'm personally not interested in yet another Hostel sequel, I'd be curious

We just received a very interesting phone cal from a reliable source that informs us that writer-director-actor-producer Scott Spiegel is in serious talks to both write and direct Hostel: Part III, which we're told is slated to go direct-to-dvd/Blu-ray. Spiegel is a big genre fav as he produced both Hostel and Hostel: Part II for Lionsgate and Sony Screen Gems, starred in Raimi's The Evil Dead, wrote and starred in Evil Dead II, and has also been part of various other horror projects (check out his IMDb listing). There is still no word on Eli Roth's involvement, but we'll you posted as news comes in and when we can officially confirm Spiegel's involvement.

My cousin just got an import copy of the Spanish flick [Rec] and swears its one of the best horror films he's seen in years. (We're watching it together this weekend, so hopefully I'll agree!) Its no surprise then that Hollywood has already commissioned an American remake of [Rec] since... well, the majority of you don't like reading subtitles! Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter, The Exorcism Of Emily Rose) and Jay Hernandez (Hostel) star in Quarantine, directed by the Dowdle Brothers (The Poughkeepsie Tapes) and due out in theaters October 17th, 2008! Hostel 3 Will Go On Without Eli Roth, but who’s listening?
It’s been announced that the Hostel 3 project is moving forward under Lionsgate’s watch, regardless of how many times Eli Roth has said he’s all tortured out.
Hostel I and II made their mark on our now damaged psyche and Lionsgate looks like it’s trying to ride the momentum from the first two films and head right on into a third film, but Eli Roth will not be, as far as anyone can tell, be part of this third chapter of horror. Well, “momentum” might be too strong a word since the second film brought in a whopping $35 million.
Worldwide.
Back in May of 2007, in an MTV interview a defiant Roth said (Are you listening Lionsgate?) “There’ll be no more sequels. Ever. There are no more ‘Hostels’”. He further added, “There is ‘Hostel’ and ‘Hostel 2’ and that’s it.
