Good inter-cultural relations have been shown.

i saw this movie during the osian's festival of Asian cinema in India. the film talks about the rare subject of cross-cultural relationships and environment resulting therewith. it shows that with a little patience, we can find the joy and love/care in a completely different setting than what we may have imagined for ourselves. the young lad comes to his uncle in japan and gets strongly repelled by his approach towards life. however, staying out of an obligation and a certain fascination, he learns a lot from his uncle, who in turn becomes fond of him. he is slowly drawn out of his sorrows and finds peace and love while developing a passion for his work. a story where this Canadian lad is shown to have adapted to the Japanese culture and found his happiness and life's purpose.

A jewel

I saw this movie in the Montreal Film Festival and I was impressed. The director has probably made his best movie so far. A young Canadian who has attempted to commit suicide is going to his uncle in Japan whom he has never met. There he learns to see life in a very different, creative, harmonious way that unfortunately people in the West rarely learn. It is a really wonderful movie in every aspect. The scenario doesn't sound exciting but the viewer never gets bored and is waiting for the next scene. A lesson of sensibility, harmony and beauty. The two great Japanese actors give lessons of acting and the erotic scenes even if they can be characterized as provocative they are certainly beautiful. It will be coming out this December in North America and in Japan. Highly recommended
