The celebrated writer died at her home in County Wicklow, Ireland on Monday after suffering a stroke.

Several previously unseen illustrations by Jrr Tolkien have just been released ahead of the 75th anniversary of the The Hobbit. When the original book was published in 1937, it contained roughly 20 illustrations by Tolkien himself. As HarperCollins prepared to re-release The Hobbit for the anniversary, they discovered more than 100 additional hand-drawn illustrations by Tolkien, buried in the archives of the Bodleian Library in Oxford.
The newfound discovery includes ink drawings, watercolors and sketches, all of which will be published on October 27th in a new book titled The Art of the Hobbit.
You can check out a sample of the soon-to-be-published illustrations below.

A couple of weeks ago we gave you an early look [1] at Danny Glover as Captain Ahab in Age of the Dragons (previously titled Dragon Fire), the low-budget reimagining of Herman Melville's Moby Dick which sees the titular white whale replaced with a white dragon. Now there's an international trailer for the film, which also stars Vinnie Jones. Watch it after the break. I'm not gonna lie, the movie looks pretty bad. It may share the same basic narrative with the revered literary classic, but it doesn't carry with it any of the same sophistication, nor does it intend to. To quote the film's own executive producer, "It’s Moby Dick with way more excitement, way more action." That quote is probably best read with several exclamation marks tagged on the end of it. Still, for a budget of $5 million, there are some occasional impressive visual flourishes to be found within this trailer,...

Oh lordy, some films sound so bad they must be seen. Age of the Dragons isn’t one of them. It’s just bad. FilmShaft writer Alan Simmons braved a screening of it yesterday and you can read his review here.
In the meantime, if you’re a ‘bad movie’ masochist you can check out the trailer below. Don’t say we didn’t warn you… because we have!
