About a boy.....

I just saw this film at the Munich Film Festival. I can say that I was amazed by Danyael Sugawara's way of story telling. The whole film is shot on the tripod. The camera never moves. But the film has an very intense cinematic flow to it. The director uses powerful images and strong metaphors that makes this a peace of cinema and not just some short film. The opening shot is a real treat. Very static but...in a way it reminded me of Tarkovsky. The cinematographer also should get mentioned. The way the film was lit, was truly fantastic. How characters are affected by the shadow/light is a real accomplishment. Lighting is used in a dramatic way and helps the narrative, it's not just there to be pretty. The story is very unique and made me very emotional at the end. You can really feel that the director loves his characters. I just loved the film.
