  • Errors in geography: Early in the film Johnson walks into a casino off of Fremont street in the heart of Las Vegas. Upon exiting the casino later, however, he finds himself just off the Las Vegas Strip across from Paris Hotel and Casino approximately 2 ½ miles away from Fremont street.

  • Continuity: Jessica Biel's earrings change from pearl studs in the scene in the diner to hoops with dangles in the car, then back to studs in the village.

  • Errors in geography: The characters visit the Indian village of Supai, Arizona, and two of the associated waterfalls, Havasu and Mooney. In the film it appears that they park their car and walk to these locations in regular street clothes and very quickly. In actuality the village of Supai is 8 miles (through the desert) from the parking lot. Havasu falls is another 2 miles beyond that and Mooney falls is 2 more miles plus a nearly straight vertical climb of 150-200 feet to the bottom. Accomplishing this trip, at the very least, would require carrying a water supply and wearing appropriate boots and clothing.

  • Factual errors: While flying in a black-hawk helicopter with the doors open, FBI agents speak to one another casually as though the overwhelming noise of the wind and rotors is non-existent.

  • Continuity: At the beginning of the film, Johnson was sitting in a diner and checked his watch on his left wrist. A moment later, when he raised his right hand to wipe sweat on his forehead, there was another watch on his right wrist.

  • Factual errors: The trail head to Havasupai is a dirt area the size of a football field with only a few hitching posts and a helicopter pad. There are not any buildings that look like the one portrayed in the movie.

  • Continuity: When Johnson forsees the conversation with the FBI agent in his garage, the conversation lasts three minutes. Since the conversation never really happens, and he can only see two minutes into the future, it wouldn't have worked.

  • Continuity: After Cris produces a rose for Liz in the motel room, she is holding it in her right hand. When she embraces him, the rose is behind his back. When the scene cuts to closeup, her hand with the rose in it is up near Cris' face.

  • Factual errors: When Callie has a visitor at the indoor firing range, the range master is heard announcing a cease-fire for the entire range and then Callie removes her ear protection. She then proceeds to fire several shots in an act of bravado without ear protection for her guest and her, and in gross violation of the range orders meant to protect other shooters.

  • Revealing mistakes: The Golden Nugget on Freemont Street is clearly standing in for the fictional Mystique Casino in the film. When Cris enters the casino, the large 'G' and 'N' are visible on the doors and a plaque with the Golden Nugget logo can be seen on the wall.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): After Cris enters the casino, he states in the voice-over narration that he uses his power to gamble but does it in a small way to go unnoticed. He is then shown betting a stack of four yellow chips on a blackjack hand. In Las Vegas, yellow chips have a value of $1000 apiece, meaning he is betting four thousand a hand - that kind of action will get you noticed.

  • Factual errors: When Cris is watching television to determine the time and place of the explosion, a news anchor describes a hurricane in the Atlantic as an "F-3" storm. The Fujita Scale is used to rate the intensity of tornadoes. Hurricanes are classified using the Saffir-Simpson scale. A hurricane of that strength would properly be called a Category 3 storm.

  • Errors in geography: Early scene in which Mr. Roybal head of security is met by the two "Nevada Gaming commission officers" this takes place on the roof of a parking structure in which the camera view shows the Stratosphere tower over the left shoulder of the agent and another casino with lights on the roof over his right. There is no such parking structure and as such the Stratosphere tower and casino are completely by themselves on the strip with a good long walk to the Sands being the closest casino and even its 3 or so blocks away.

  • Continuity: During the scene when Chris and the agents are walking along the catwalk, just prior to Chris's precognition of getting shot by a sniper from behind them: As Chris and the FBI agents are about to turn 90 degrees left on the catwalk, there is a cylindrical duct of some kind behind them with a white tarp covering the end. As they walk past it, the tarp gets sucked down and pulled out of sight - possibly a film crew action, or just part of what the machinery is being portrayed to do. However, after his precognition of getting shot, the scene rewinds to their approach on the catwalk, but this time, the white tarp at the end of the tubing does not get sucked in, it remains covering the end of the duct.

  • Errors in geography: When Agent Ferris explains Frank Cadillac's predicament (stolen vehicle, attempted armed robbery) she tells him he could end up in Folsum State Prison. Folsum is a California prison, the crimes were committed in Nevada.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Nicolas Cage's character tells a joke about a "Zen master" ordering a hot dog. Cage says, "he said he wanted 'one with everything.'" The punch line should be "make me one with everything." Cage's wording misses the point (and the expression on Jessica Biel's face suggests she misses the point too).

  • Factual errors: The sniper twice tries to make a cell phone call. Both times he gets three tones and a recorded message telling him, "Your call cannot be completed as dialed. Check the number and dial again." Between attempts his phone's LCD reports "NO SERVICE" because previously all cell service was shut down. Such recordings can only come from the service; they're not embedded in every handset.

>>> WARNING: Here Be Spoilers <<<

Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.

  • Continuity: SPOILER: After the sniper "shoots" Cris, the medium shots show him holding a high-end cell phone, but in the close-up shot the phone is a very cheap Nokia 1100.

  • Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: The terrorists communicate in French and speak English with a French accent. But when the sniper misses his shot, he curses in Serbian.
