One of the most long-awaited sequels has finally landed a director. Signed on to Jurassic Park 4 is... Colin Trevorrow.
Never hear of him? That's fair. He is a relative newbie to Hollywood. His feature directorial debut came only last year, with indie flick Safety Not Guaranteed. Besides that, he has a doctumentary (Reality Show) and a writing credit (Making Revolution) to his resume.
This could be very good for Jurassic Park 4... or very, very bad. On the one hand, a green director means that he doesn't come with any baggage, any bad habits, or any expectations. On the other hand, can someone with so little experience handle such a massive undertaking - in 3D, no less?
Trevorrow will work off a script from Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, who wrote Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two Jurassic Park films, will executive produce...

We can expect a Lot of these rumors over the next while, but apparently indie director Colin Trevorrow is definitely on Disney's radar to helm their new Star Wars movie. Celeb Buzz say their sources have confirmed that Trevorrow "is indeed on the list of potential names that could shepherd a new trilogy of films". The site report that George Lucas actually met with the director several months ago about the project, but even after Disney purchased Lucasfilm on October 30th, he is still on the shortlist. Of course we can't confirm this, and have no idea how reliable Celeb Buzz's sources are, but the story has been picked up by some more reputable sites - so it's worth reporting as a solid rumor for now at least. Trevorrow would certainly be an "outside the box" choice, having only directed a documentary (Reality Show), a tv movie (Gary: Under Crisis...

Disney is moving forward on an adaptation of the graphic novel Pet Robots. The studio has signed scribe Colin Trevorrow to pen the screenplay. A high-tech comedy set in the present, Pet Robots revolves around futuristic robots that fall into the hands of the least likely group of people. The graphic novel was the brainchild of Scott Christian Sava, who founded an animation studio that worked on Saturday morning TV shows before segueing into publishing comics and children's books. The flick will revolve around four students who get lost on a field trip at a toy company and bond with four military robots. Trevorrow has written and directed several short films as well as the documentary Reality Show. He’s currently writing the Sony film Stealing Time, which Walt Becker will direct and Landscape Entertainment. He also recently sold the script Tester to DreamWorks, but is now setup at Paramount.
