Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
Following the car chases, punch-ups, financial intrigue, and multiple language fun of 2008’s Largo Winch, Tomer Sisley returns as the eponymous hero in Largo Winch: the Burma Conspiracy with even more corporate shenanigans, double-crosses, high-octane action, discoveries about Largo’s deceased father Nerio, and clues about his own adopted past. It doesn’t particularly mess with the first film’s blueprint; an oddly satisfying mix of knowing Bondesque mechanics and business titans, but that’s all to the good. It’s just as fun, even with the addition of the hot-button country of disdain, Burma, and the diversion of Sharon Stone playing a cougar International Criminal Court investigator.
Taking a leaf out of Quantum of Solace’s opening we’re thrown straight into Largo’s latest international transaction via a high-speed car chase with machine gun toting baddies in tow, after he crosses the grotesque...

We have the trailer for the Peace Arch Entertainment distributed "Jcvd" starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, François Damiens, Zinedine Soualem, Karim Belkhadra, Jean-François Wolff, Anne Paulicevich. The film has received praise from respected critics as Van Damme's best, most memorable performance to date. Mabrouk El Mechri, helmer of "Virgil" and "Stand Up" writes and directs this crime comedy/drama from Gaumont. It seems that the once mega star Van Damme is clawing himself back up the ranks. Could we be seeing the same of what Mickey Rourke achieved?...

Could we be seeing the same of what Mickey Rourke achieved? What's this about? When the life of Jean-Claude Van Damme collides with the reality of a hold-up in Brussels, Belgium, suddenly the huge movie star turns into an ordinary guy, filled with fears, contradictions and hopes. How can he be up to the legend he has built? What can a film hero do when the gun pointed to his temple isn't charged with blanks?...

Toronto -- Not only are acquisitions finally taking hold at the Toronto International Film Festival, but agencies are starting to sign filmmakers as well.
Endeavor has inked Mabrouk El Mechri, the man behind the Jean-Claude Van Damme parody action comedy "Jcvd." Icm, meanwhile, is close to signing Pascal Laugier, the writer-director behind the horror movie "Martyrs."
"Jcvd," which sees Van Damme playing himself as he's taken hostage during a holdup, has been building buzz at Toronto.
Paris-born El Mechri, whose first effort was the 2005 French film "Virgil," co-wrote the script and spent time earning the trust of Van Damme, who eventually relented and said, "You can do whatever you want with me."
"Martyrs," which continues France's new wave of horror movies and is part of Toronto's Midnight Madness slate, follows a victim of childhood abuse who seeks vengeance years later with the help of another victim. The two get more than they bargained for.
