Pamela Anderson to Try Her Luck in Music

4 December 2009 9:14 PM, PST | Celebrity Mania | See recent Celebrity Mania news »

Pamela Anderson is going to try her luck in music industry. New York Post recently reported the 42-year-old actress will launch her debut pop single titled "High" which doesn't talk about drugs but about high fashion. She will collaborate with clothing designer friend Richie Rich on the hook.

On their first singing collaboration, Richie told the newspaper, "We are recording a pop single together." The designer further explained about Pamela's part in the song, saying "Pam says she wants to sing, but nothing too difficult, so she just going to sing the word 'High' over and over."

Pamela Anderson herself has previously collaborated with designer Richie Rich in fashion world. On February 18 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, the "Superhero Movie" actress walked down the runway for the Richie Rich Fall 2009 fashion show at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.

Recently, Pamela has launched A*Muse, an animal-friendly clothing line she worked on with Richie. »

3 December 2009 2:08 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

A couple of months ago Empire Magazine ran a photo spread for their 20th Anniversary issue featuring Hollywood legends recreating some of their most iconic cinematic moments. Though only stipulation was that the stars dress classy while paying homage to some of their most memorable moments on celluloid and Imo, the spread turned of awesome.

Well now Empire is sharing its gallery online and people are clicking on and taking notice. Nothing revolutionary but we thought you’d enjoy them too, so we grabbed a few of the best pics and lined them up for you.

As you go through the pic, see if you can still name the star, what movie it is they’re recreating and what age you were when said movie came out. The results may frighten you.

Without further ado here are the photos:

[DVD Review] Vampire Party

1 December 2009 5:00 PM, PST | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

I hate to sound like an old fogy, but boy, they sure don’t make ‘em like they used to. And by ‘em, I mean spoof movies in the Zucker mold (specifically Airplane and The Naked Gun) that were amusing enough at the time, but in retrospect have come to seem like small miracles in comparison with the films that they have inspired. Vampire Party is just one of those films, and it does absolutely nothing to better the image of the parody film as lazy, uninspired, and more irritating than funny. But unlike Scary Movie, Scary Movie 2, Scary Movie 3, Scary Movie 4, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Disaster Movie, and Superhero Movie, this is from France.

Sam (Patrick Mille), Alice (Frederique Bel), and Prune (Julie Fournier) are young people who (as is clearly established in the opening narration, perhaps the only very French touch in the whole movie) love to party. »

Check This Out: The Evolution of the Superhero Movie Graph

20 November 2009 4:25 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

There's really no denying that superhero movies are in their prime right now. Years ago, no one thought comic book adaptations would become the mainstream mega-hits that they are today. And to show us the history and evolution of that genre, we've got another great graph to feature today called The Evolution of the Superhero Movie. This comes from the guys who made the Sequels That Bombed, $400 Million Club, and Harry Potter Directors graphics previously. This is one of my all-time favorites though, just because it's dealing with an area of cinema that I'm very familiar with. And so with that, check this out fullsize below. This graphic originally comes from KoldCast TV, although I was given permission by the creators to run it here. There are a lot of fascinating stats found on this chart. For example, 68% of all superhero movies are from Marvel, which is an impressive »

Robert Zemeckis 'Never Been Offered' A Superhero Movie

5 November 2009 7:30 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

From Splash Page: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" and "Back to the Future" director Robert Zemeckis is certainly no stranger to the art of bringing fantasy fare to life on the big screen, so when we had the chance to chat with him during a press event for "A Christmas Carol," we had to ask: why hasn't he tackled a superhero movie yet?

"I'm a superhero fan, although I actually have never been offered one," Zemeckis told MTV News. "I've never really brought one to someone and said I really want to do this superhero [movie]. Obviously, I love the form, as movies really are the extension of comic books."

But What Mark Millar Really Wants to Do is Direct

2 November 2009 8:32 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Sure, he’s a famous comic book writer, but what Scotsman Mark Millar (writer of “Wanted” and the upcoming “Kick-Ass”) really, really wants to do is direct big action movies. Okay, maybe not really wants to do, but he’s been offered the opportunity, and the writer of “Wanted” and the upcoming “War Heroes” has said yes. In fact, he said Yes a while ago, since according to Millar himself, his directorial debut will commence principal photography in March 2010. Under the thread title: “Millar To Direct Superhero Movie”, Mark Millar writes on his official forum: Bet you didn’t see That coming, laddies and lassies! But this is one of several big surprises planned for next year and you’ll hear a bit more about this in February when we start to release details. What is it? Who is it about? Well, that’s all a secret for now, but »

‘Scary Movie 5′ might be dead and we’re okay with that

21 October 2009 12:23 PM, PDT | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

If a genie granted me three wishes, I would use one on not having a Scary Movie 5. The other two have to do with Holli Wood from Cool World.

If there is a possibility of a Scary Movie 5 then it’ll have to wait until the Weinstein Company finishes up Scream 4 which won’t be released until 2010…late 2010. Cinema Blend reported that some “insiders” are alleging that the cinco will be a reboot and won’t include the series’ saving grace Anna Faris. Much of the hubbub probably has to do with her salary which has gone up after her success with The House Bunny.

“Everyone wants to know if there will be a fifth Scary Movie and I really have no answer,” Faris told Fangoria in September.

It could also be that the series stinks and Weinstein knows it. There are two reasons for a reboot: »

Monday Night Poll: The Lamest Superhero Movie Villains

5 October 2009 8:18 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

I grew up loving all things Superman, but even as a lad of 13 I could tell that the villain in Superman IV -- Nuclear Man, created when Supes threw all the world's nuclear weapons into the sun -- was dumb. He had no personality. He didn't even have a name. "Nuclear Man" is what the closing credits called him, but no one in the film ever calls him anything. Rule No. 1 of being a supervillain: You must have a name. I cannot imagine any exceptions to that rule.

So Nuclear Man is probably my vote for the lamest villain in a superhero movie, but it's hardly a slam-dunk. He has a lot of competition. Arnold Schwarzenegger's campy Mr. Freeze in Batman & Robin is legendary. At the opposite end of the muscles scale, there's whiny Venom (Topher Grace) in Spider-Man 3 and emo-goth Blackheart (Wes Bentley) in Ghost Rider. And »

Which Superhero Movie Should DC And WB Prioritize?

15 September 2009 12:22 PM, PDT | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

One week it's The Walt Disney Company buying Marvel Entertainment, and the next week it's Warner Brothers restructuring and creating the new, movie-focused DC Entertainment. How's that for a busy 10 days, folks?

During our subsequent interview with DC Entertainment's new president, Diane Nelson, we gave you the scoop on where the company plans to go from here, where they're focusing their attention, and even a well-known character they're not focusing on right now. We also offered up a list of superhero projects we think WB and the new DC division should be focusing on first, and why they're so important to DC's growth in the movie world.

Now, it's your turn. We want to know which DC superhero properties you think are the most important to the company's growth in Hollywood. Should Superman be put on the fast-track, or should they go down roads less traveled? Is a "Doom Patrol" movie a must-have project, »

Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page and Liv Tyler to Star in James Gunn’s Superhero Comedy

11 September 2009 7:41 AM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Oh great, just what we need... another superhero comedy. I probably would have brushed right by this next bit of news if not for the fact that it happens to be written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The movie is called Super and it is about a normal man who decides to become a superhero named Crimson Bolt, in order to win back his wife from the clutches of a "charming drug dealer". Since he doesn't actually have any super powers, he kicks ass using a wrench. Hasn't this idea been done to death already? Rainn Wilson has signed on to play Crimson Bolt, which frankly, doesn't have me all that excited either. His first full starring vehicle The Rocker looked pretty terrible, and bombed at the box office. Liv Tyler will play his wife, while Ellen Page, on the other hand, is now confirmed to be playing Crimson Bolt's sidekick, »

The Best Superhero Movie of All Time Tournament! The Final Battle!

8 September 2009 8:02 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

The Dark Knight demolished Superman! Iron Man beat up Batman Begins!

Well, we made it. Oh sure we had a slight glitch in Round 5 and we've withstood all sorts of angry movie-fan banter in the comments sections ... but overall I'd call our first Cinematical Tournament a big success. Our readers had fun, the Twitter movie freaks were very supportive, and I even learned a little something about tolerance and love along the way. So without further delay (oh, except to say that we'll have a nice handy recap sometime soon) I offer to you the final match-up of The Best Superhero Movie of All Time tournament. (Or at least until another good superhero movie comes out, whichever comes first.)

Round 9 saw the original Superman feature baaaarely squeaking past the very excellent Spider-Man 2, and then The Dark Knight pretty much obliterated The Incredibles, Batman Begins did the same to Unbreakable, and Iron Man beat the first Spider-Man by a rather surprising margin. Which means our next two match-ups are.......

The Best Superhero Movie of All Time Tournament! Round #9!

31 August 2009 8:03 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Round 8 was Not a good one for the X-Men! A reluctant superhero defeats an enthusiastic one! And ... Ok, enough silly exuberance. Here are last round's results: Batman Begins beat down on X-Men, Unbreakable exsanguinated Blade, Spider-Man showed off all of Superman 2's bizarre tonal inconsistencies, and Iron Man smacked the holy snot out of X-Men 2. Which means we have only eight movies remaining! If you were going to invite your grandmother to vote in only One round of the tournment, this is the one!

Jerry Bruckheimer Gets a Shake

30 August 2009 7:04 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Jerry Bruckheimer has picked up rights to Derek Haas' short story titled Shake, and set the writer to develop into a feature-length screenplay.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the origin of Haas' story was a new site called Popcornfiction.com that he recently created for TV and film writers to showcase their pulpy short fiction. Among the contributors are Craig Mazin (Superhero Movie), Scott Frank (The Lookout), Jeff Lowell (Over Her Dead Body) and Nichelle D. Tramble (Women's Murder Club).

"I wanted to create a place where new popular short fiction could flourish and Hollywood could have a new resource for cultivating great ideas," Haas says on the site.

Bruckheimer apparently visited the site, loved Haas' story of an FBI agent chasing a killer while he begins to lose control of his own body and bought the idea for a potential Disney film.

No production date has been set. »

The first big battles are done! Here's how the last round went down: Richard Donner's Superman smacked down Tim Burton's Batman Returns! Spider-Man 2 made easy work of Hellboy 2! The Dark Knight obliterated the 1989 Batman! (I'll say.) And in a wonderfully strange semi-upset, Pixar's The Incredibles finished off those angst-ridden Watchmen! Congrats to those winners, and let's move on...

See a Clip From Lo-Fi Woody Harrelson Superhero Movie Defendor

21 August 2009 10:34 AM, PDT | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Twitch has a short clip from the odd-looking superhero movie Defendor, starring Woody Harrelson and Kat Dennings. We've already run some photos, which got me interested in the film immediately, and this clip looks great. Check it out after the break. The film, which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, is written and directed by Peter Stebbings and also features Sandra Oh and one of my favorite actors, Elias Koteas. Here's the official synopsis: Reality intersects with delusion in the mind of Arthur Poppington (Woody Harrelson), a regular man who adopts a superhero persona known as Defendor, and combs the city streets at night in search of his arch-enemy, Captain Industry. In his attempts to combat crime and bring down Captain Industry, a drug and weapons dealer who he mistakenly blames for the death of his mother, Defendor ends up befriending a young prostitute, Katerina Debrofkowitz (Kat Dennings »

Making 'Iron Man 2' Better Than The First Film 'Wasn't Ever The Discussion,' Says Don Cheadle

20 August 2009 7:02 AM, PDT | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

When it comes to movies, a well-received first outing almost always calls for an even better follow-up, and in the case of the in-development "Iron Man" franchise, fandom has set its collective expectations high. But while Don Cheadle acknowledges fan excitement, the "Iron Man 2" star explained that the mindset behind the sequel is primarily rooted in expanding on what worked in the first film.

When asked about the general conversation that took place with director Jon Favreau on the "Iron Man 2" set, Cheadle explained that his motivation wasn't necessarily to make a bigger film, but a film that explored the ideas set during the first installment in a big way.

"You know, [topping the last film] wasn't really ever the discussion," Cheadle told MTV News, "We never said, 'How do we beat it?' in my opinion. We just said, 'How do we take what happened in the first film and pay »
