Ben and Margene Relationship to Take Next Step on Big Love

12 November 2009 9:18 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Last week, Ginnifer Goodwin said that her character on Big Love "does something next season that in my own esteem is so horrible that I had trouble even performing it."

Talk about a major teaser!

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, series co-creator Mark V. Olsen may have at least shed some light on what the actress is referencing above. Referring to Ben and Margene, he said:

“We have flirted for three years with [that] relationship. And this year we finally decided to pay it off.”

Considering the events that ended last season, during which Ben smooched his step-mother, there's only one way in which the show can pay this off. We're giddy just thinking about that scandal.

Big Love returns to HBO on January 10. »

Big Love Planning Wedding, "Horrible" Storyline for Margene

9 November 2009 2:32 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Ho-hum. Another season of Big Love, another wedding to plan for.

Sources have confirmed that Amanda Seyfried's Sarah will be getting married when the HBO hit returns; the series will also introduce a new set of in-laws for her in Scott’s conservative parents, Mr. and Mrs. Quitman.

However, Ginnifer Goodwin (Margene) wouldn't reveal a word about this storyline when pressed by TV Guide Magazine.

As for the future of her character?

"Margene does something next season that in my own esteem is so horrible that I had trouble even performing it," the actress said.

Wow. We didn't think it was possible to look forward any more to Big Love's return on January 10 than we already do! »

Tom Ford’s ‘A Single Man’ Gets A Beautiful Trailer

8 November 2009 5:59 PM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Tom Ford is a stylish man who's been around a lot more naked women than I have. I'd cry foul, but he's also been around a lot more naked men so instead I'll just call it even. He's been near the top of the fashion world for years, but now he looks to be expanding his resume by directing and co-writing a film. A Single Man has already received quite a bit of acclaim from showings at various festivals and has finally had it's first trailer released. The film stars Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode (Watchmen, The Lookout), Ginnifer Goodwin ("Big Love", "Ed"), and Nicholas Hoult (About a Boy, "Skins"). Check it out below. The trailer doesn't give away much (or anything really) about the plot, but it looks absolutely stunning doesn't it? It shouldn't come as a surprise since Ford's other career involves his keen eye for fashion and beauty, but »

Tremont's Convergence-continuum Presents Ouroboros: The Reversable Play, Opens 11/13

6 November 2009 11:00 AM, PST | BroadwayWorld.com | See recent BroadwayWorld.com news »

Tremont's resident theatre company, convergence-continuum, completes its 2009 season at the Liminis theatre with the reversible play Ouroboros, Tom Jacobson's mysterious and intellectually challenging new puzzle, featuring two plays in one.

The play (actually two plays) is a love story involving the crisscrossing spiritual quests of two unrelated American couples, each traveling through time in the opposite direction as they visit five Italian cities. They seem to be trapped in a hellish collision of fate as they live out cross-referenced realities. This mixture of déjà vu and shocking Twilight Zone-like inevitability takes place in five scenes that can be performed in either order. One way (Ouroboros: The Nun's Tale) it's a comedy (in that it ends happily), the other way (Ouroboros: The Priest's Tale), a tragedy. "Seen together or alone, this is a thought-provoking pair of hits!" ---BackStage West. The show will run for six weekends, with the play »

Lyndsy Fonseca: Returning to Desperate Housewives

2 November 2009 3:19 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

After losing Mike to Susan, Katherine Mayfair has been losing it little by little on Desperate Housewives.

Perhaps Dana Delaney's character could use some daughterly love. Enter Lyndsy Fonseca. TV Guide Magazine reports the actress will return later this season as Katherine's child, Dylan.

The character has been absent since 2008, prior to the show's five-year time jump. Internet rumors state that Katherine might enter a mental hospital in the near future, which would leave the door open for family to visit.

Fonseca has also enjoyed extended runs on How I Met Your Mother and Big Love. »

An Exclusive Interview with Supernatural Star Jim Beaver

28 October 2009 2:07 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Supernatural fans know Jim Beaver as Bobby.

But the veteran actor has appeared on a slew of well-reviewed, popular shows, from classics such as The West Wing to current hits such as Big Love.

In an exclusive interview with TV Fanatic, the affable actor talked about his long career, while hyping an upcoming episode of Supernatural he describes as "one of the most memorable we've ever had..."

TV Fanatic: Talk about the evolution of Bobby as a character on Supernatural.

Beaver: When I first shot the finale of season one, nobody said anything about this being a recurring character. But I was very pleased to come back for a second episode - Deadwood was coming to an end and I was concerned about my next job - and, by the third episode, we all began thinking Bobby could be an integral part of the show.

Red Carpet: Underworked, Overworked, Erratically Co-Worked

Did you miss red carpet lineup? Too bad, it's back anyway! Here's a random sampling of celebrities who've been working the red this past week. As always, it's chosen based on who I wanna talk about.

I didn't used to think much of Eva Green, who was looking smashing in movie star red in London for the premiere of her new film Cracks, but two things changed my mind. First, her chemistry with Daniel Craig in Casino Royale and two, the shot of her flying through the air in The Golden Compass. I'm sad we'll never see more of witchy Serafina Pekkala. The further we get away from that movie the more I'm bummed that it didn't quite work. The book was so terrific but studios and filmmakers should never take on source material that's bolder than they are (this is one of the many reasons that Peter Jackson's »

Q: Ok, I'm a Gleek -- I love the show. But is it only me or are the "adults" on this show really, really annoying (and stupid)? The whole fake pregnancy thing between Mr. Shue and his wife? Wtf? How can a reasonably intelligent man live with, and presumably share a bed with the same women night after night and not catch on? Chicago – Film and TV icon Martin Landau accepted his Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2009 Chicago International Film Festival in the same hotel he stayed at while filming Alfred Hitchcock’s “North by Northwest” in 1959.

The famous film also has scenes shot at the Ambassador East Hotel, and HollywoodChicago was at the awards ceremony in the Pump Room there.

Landau began his acceptance speech by reminiscing about filming North by Northwest in Chicago, relating how he shared a meal in the Pump Room with fellow cast members Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason and the “Master of Suspense,” director Alfred Hitchcock.

The remarks continued with Landau’s concern for Hollywood today, and the dearth of character driven themes in films. »

Big Love to Introduce New Characters

20 October 2009 9:06 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

The new season of Big Love kicks off in January.

As previously announced, Zeljko Ivanek will return to the HBO hit as J.J. - and he won't come back alone.

Viewers will meet the character's parents early in season four, as we can't wait to see the adults responsible for J.J. and Wanda. As for others to be introduced in early 2010?

Look for Ana's fiancé from Serbia to make an appearance.

Ivanek has been a busy man. He appeared on Heroes last season, earned an Emmy for his work on Damages and will likely reprise his role as the Magister on True Blood at some point. »

Jennifer's Body's UK Quad Poster

19 October 2009 4:56 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Poor Amanda Seyfried. Not only does she have to play second fiddle to the undeniably inferior (acting-wise) Megan Fox in Jennifer's Body, but the new UK quad poster for the flick shows her in the most unflattering light possible. Something tells me, however, that the "Big Love" star will rebound just fine. Ms. Fox and Ms. Cody, on the other hand...

The poster comes courtesy of Empire Online. Despite the poor box office showing Jennifer's Body (review here) has had here in the States (its domestic total as of today is a measly $16,031,583), it comes out on November 4 in the UK with previews on Halloween. In case anyone needs a reminder of the film's plot:

Jennifer's Body revolves around the character Jennifer (Megan Fox), a mean-girl cheerleader possessed by a demon who begins feeding off the boys in a Minnesota farming town. It is then up to her "plain Jane »

Premiere Date for 'Big Love' Season 4 Set

Finally! Several months after polygamy-themed HBO drama Big Love was renewed for a fourth season, the cabler has announced the premiere date for the fourth season of the series - and it will kick off in January 10.

Big Love, which is currently in production, moves on to its new season finding Bill declaring the formation of his own church (with him as leader of course), Joey suffocating Roman to avenge his wife Kathy's death (Roman's not coming from the dead, the creators confirmed, sadly), Barb being excommunicated from the Mormon Church, and Nicki reuniting with daughter Cara Lynn.

It feels like forever since Bill Hendrickson announced that he and his family would form their own religion and live apart from Juniper Creek and Lds and the rest of the state of Utah. And we also know that Roman Grant is dead, and unless Big Love is going in the direction of resurrecting the prophet like he's the real deal, that means Alby will be taking over for his father. Then there's all the business with the casinos, Nicki's teenaged daughter and her weird former husband, not to mention Margene's new business, Sarah getting married to Scott...
